Ehehehe get ready for the next au, Undermars!!
Set meant many many millennia in the future, this au is centered all around a colony settling on a barren planet! Earth had been practically decimated by war, pollution, deforestation, rising ocean acidity, you name it. All living races remaining knew that the damage was irreplaceable. All the remaining viable resources were pooled into creating ships capable of withstanding space long enough to reach a better home.
Monsters, mages and humans carefully engineered chosen and trained were sent in packed pods to a selection of planets with just the right gravitational pull and atmosphere to work with! The colony that was pulled into the crash on ebott had been on their new planet for almost a decade. They had still been doing their best to carve into the rocky barren landscape of their new home. The air was thin, plant life struggled to thrive and water had to literally be mined from the asteroid belt above. But they were making it work.
After the crash, many of this AUs people made a reputation for being… well perfect! They were brilliant, strong, hardy and rather fanatical in their loyalty to ebott. They view ebott as a paradise, some fantasy place their ancestors told stories of to motivate them. They would do ANYTHING for their new home. They’re lovingly called the “Martians” by other monsters

Nitro (nitrogen) -formerly Head Botanist 0043 (undermars sans)
Nitro is a skeleton monster with a few curious differences from your average skeleton. He was carefully modified during incubation to have a better respiratory system as well as more tolorance to radiation and harsh light. The result is denser bones, permanently summoned ecto and being able to hold his breath for an obscene amount of time without passing out. Like almost two hours. Nitro has a smattering of freckles on his skull and shoulders as well as deep ice blue magic. He stands at 5’2. He thinks he is aged around roughly 100 years old (time was a bit wonky in their au).
Nitros personality is like a double sided coin. On one side, he is efficient, super organized, collected, strict, stoic and domineering. He is used to handling a lot of pressure as the former protector of what is literally the colonies only chance at sustaining itself. On his other side, he is creative, curious, sassy, and a real goofball. During those rare moments where he has no responsibilities, nitro is a huge dweeb. He loves cheesy puns, small pranks and just being an overall nuisance.
Formerly, nitro was the head botanist and was tasked with getting the seeds and saplings to thrive on the new planet. He has some background in genetic engineering and would do his best to customize the plants to better suit the dead-land his people were stuck with. After the crash, he remained in that field and spends his days with the royal scientists. He spends his day in a lab and his test fields seeing how his new crop varieties stand against the elements.
Nitro has three special abilities. Tw Two were carefully implanted into him as a fetus. The first is rapid seed- it basically forces a plant to seed or pollinate outside of its season and age. It kills the plant, but allows for faster cross breeding. The second is called atmospheric magnet. He can literally “pull” heavy gasses out of the air around him and force them to pool around his feet as he walks. Incredibly useful if there’s ever a breach in his breathing vest. on the bare planet. The third- his natural born ability, is called skip step. If he skips, he can sort of “glide” across water. It only works for a few minutes so it’s not a viable mode of transportation.
Things he loves: plants of course, finding new crop varieties, the color grass green, non-grass lawns and eco-friendly architecture, fantasy books, pillow fights, parkour, farm monsters, hard candies, dandelions, puns, punk rock, gardening, bugs, solar.
Solar -formally power cell engineer 0186
Solar is a skeleton monster with a few curious differences from your average skeleton. He was carefully modified during incubation to have a better respiratory system as well as more tolorance to radiation and harsh light. The result is denser bones, permanently summoned ecto and being able to hold his breath for an obscene amount of time without passing out. Like almost two hours. Solar has a peachy yellow magic, freckles on his skull and ribcage and several tattoos decorating his spinal cord. He stands at 6 feet even and thinks he is aged around 100.
Solar is a very determined, hard working, loyal and rather intense personality. He has issues with pacing himself and will often skip sleep causing him to always look a bit trashed lol. He can be impulsive but is honest and owns up to when he makes mistakes. He almost didn’t make the cut for joining the colony, but they had too many elementals, so he was switched out with another prospective engineer. Because of this, he is very determined to prove himself and worries a lot about not doing enough. Babies scare him lol. They’re too unpredictable. He thrives in routine
Solar, like his name suggests, works with solar energy! On the ship he managed the power cells along with the other engineers. Once on the surface he was in charge of building new power generators for the colony. Now in ebott, he works with the royal scientists managing and improving the core. He is more of a handyman than a researcher and will do all the building tasks for their tests.
Solar has three special abilities. Two were carefully implanted into him as a fetus. The first is flare shield. For a period of five minutes, he can make himself totally immune to heat damage. There isn’t a limit listed to how much he can take, mostly because he hasn’t found one yet. For his second ability, named foundation sweep, Solar can smooth out stone into a perfectly flat surface by rubbing it with his bare hands. The stone being moved away is turned into a fine dust or sand. His third, the natural one, is called smokers mouth by nitro lol. Solar can turn his teeth yellow at will.
Things he loves: robotics, renewable energy, energy drinks, chocolates with interesting filling, parkour, hiking, boxing, those fair rides that you can manually spin, farm monsters, sky blue, puzzle boxes, robot dueling, motorcycles, that really fast rave music that makes you feel like you’re having a heart attack, nitro.
Side characters:
Risk: undermars frisk, one of the humans chosen for the colony. Risk is a tactician genius and was pulled straight from the military. They have joined the royal guard and work closely with the air force division.
Gene: undermars gaster: also a royal scientist these days, he is the lead scientist in researching genetic disease in both monsters and humans. He is G’s boss and knows more than he lets on.
Flareby: undermars grillby, a brilliant nutritionist, flareby now is the personal chef to the royals. He is the one to prepare the meals of any currently inside the capitol building.
