Stay At Home

As the storm fills in My heart feels joy For there is no better reason to stay at home

to watch your cat sleeping under the glass table so fragile yet so safe

to close all the windows and then later on to check once more they're doubly closed

i would not want uninvited rain at least that's what i'm told because

but i still contain my peace it’s easy when lighting strikes the other side

after all i have a cat and a glass table on which i choose to solemnly write

This is so real for me. I was alive & living in the tri-state area during this case.... I was young but I remember people talking about Black Boys “wildin”... there was so much fear.

Now as an adult.... as the mother of a Black Boy myself... I see the truth ... we believed these innocent children were monsters - and now I understand how easy it is to criminalize Black youth ...

The ultimate irony is that we were also taught to respect White men in suits on Wall Street... ( even though we would find out later that they were the real criminals )

This is visceral for me... I can still feel this era in my body. I’m devistated by all the young Black lives that were destroyed by America’s false Anti-Black narrative and this exploitative legal system. And I’m also terrified that even though we are looking back at our societies mistakes....we haven’t learned from them.

Non Binary pride

I am sick of the constant struggle to explain my idenitiy only to be shut down with "it doesnt exist" or "you can't be that" I am Non Binary and I am proud to be me. I am real and I am human. I changed my profile picture to express this. it will stay up as long as possible, on every platform I am on. I am angry and I am done with letting us be constantly invalidated.
