[y'know. when i really put my mind to it, it's really hard to think of a genuinely good story. like right now i can't figure out how to start this one, or who to start it with. it sucks.

[the vents are a crowded place in the base. lots of smaller organisms up there. TYRANT visits from time to time. today, one of TYRANT's cohorts dropped by.]

[Canis and Blood are playing Uno with Phantom Soldier at the moment.]

Canis: hmm...

Blood: [plays a +4]

Phantom Soldier: [plays a +4]

Canis: ...aw, fuck.

Blood: Ran out of +4s, ol' chum?

Canis, in the middle of picking up cards: unfortunately.

Phantom Soldier: this is going rather calm for a 30+ minute uno game.

Canis: i ran out of emotions 3 minutes in, sincerest apologies.

Blood: . Blood: Does anyone else feel a sense of sudden dread?

Phantom Soldier: ...not really.

Canis: starting to. why's that going on, then?

Blood: Let me-

[The trapdoor swings open, making a horrible bang as it hits the wall.]

Blood: Ow... my goddamn nonexistent ears...

Canis: ...wonder who that is.

[A large gatling gun appears from the trapdoor hole, flying up and tumbling over to Ground Control's terminal.]

[Then, some hands appear on the edge of the hole.]

Phantom Soldier: oh, it's just one of tyrant's buddies.

Canis: wonderful.

[THE MANIAC ARRIVES.]

MANIAC: HOW'S IT GOING, LITTLE FELLAS?

Canis: we're playing uno. wanna join?

MANIAC: POG. HAVEN'T PLAYED UNO IN A WHILE.

[MANIAC takes a seat with Phantom Soldier, Canis and Blood, and engages in a round of Uno.]
