ok, so here's a headcanon. When Uma was a very young girl, barely bigger than a baby, Úrsula was careful with her. Her daughter was a tiny little thing and something in Úrsula's maternal instinct told her that she should protect her, but, again, they were locked up on the Island. So the people began to speak. Ursula was called weak and Maleficent was the worst of all. She practically turned her into an outcast for showing love, which made Úrsula resent Uma. She stopped caring for her, forced her to work at the Chip Shop the moment Uma could walk, and forgot about her. In her subconscious and thanks to some memories, Uma knows that her mother once loved her, but then left her, so that generated a trauma in her. Uma doesn't trust anyone, but she befriends Mal and decides to trust her, a little, what's the worst that can happen? Then Mal throws the shrimp on her and makes her a mockery of the Island and Uma feels so betrayed..., again someone threw her away at the slightest opportunity. So she starts spending a lot more time with Harry Hook, and it scares her when he calls her his best friend because, how is she sure that he is not going to throw more shrimp all over her? Time passes, they both grow up and Harry always tries to flirt with her. Uma is not stupid, she sees the adoration in his eyes, the way he says her name and cannot deny herself that she trusts him, that Harry attracts her and that just by being with him her days are better and the Island it's not that bad. She even knows that she loves him. But she is too scared, she has been thrown away like trash so many times that she is afraid to give in a little because she believes that she will not be able to take another wound. Which is why she ignores Harry's constant flirtations, even when she wants to kiss him senselessly.

My two Mermaids for MerMay~ 

First one was the mermaid from Peter Pan and second one is Ursula. For Ursula, I’m currently reading “Poor Unfortunate Soul” and in the book, Ursula is Triton’s sister. So I thought, What if Ursula was a memaid before she turned into her sea witch form? 

I used Simply Gilded washi tapes for the tails. Daiso’s washi tapes were used in the Peter Pan one for the flowers :)
