Going to try my damndest to pivot back to “What We Treasure” now. I’ve got complex feelings about that fic, I admit. It was my first real shot at any kind of narrative storytelling, and I’ve changed pretty significantly as a writer since I started writing it in late 2023. If anyone had told me it was going to get 2k hits, I would have never believed it. I started rewriting the early chapters a while back to fix some pacing issues, gently tweak some of Takara’s family lore, make better use of more characters, and just improve quality and depth all-around, but I’m still trying to figure out how I want to proceed in terms of writing new chapters vs posting a re-write (originals will be preserved). On the back end, I’ll probably end up writing it from both ends for a while.

At the same time though, it’s my first work and I’m still proud of it and grateful for what it’s taught me. It’s the backbone the rest of my work stands on. I just think it deserves to be a little stronger.
