Tsuruichi I’m guessing cuz its Usa. Let’s call this “5 times Tsurumaru flirted with Ichigo and the one time he didn’t mean to”
Tsurumaru was not an idiot on most occasions. He was actually the wise guy at times but that only involved strategy matters. In regards to emotion, Tsurumaru was the last person to ask about love. What did he know about love? He never stuck around long enough to get attached to anyone. But then there was Ichigo Hitofuri Toushirou. A sweet, gentle sword who wormed his way into Tsurumaru’s heart.
Tsurumaru wanted Ichigo the very moment he realized he saw Ichigo more than just a friend. Thing is, this would be his first infatuation. And that meant he was a clueless dumbstruck idiot who knew shit about flirting. Not to mention the little monsters were always around Ichigo. (Tsurumaru pretends to hate them but he actually has a soft spot for the smaller swords)
The first time Tsurumaru made a pass at Ichigo was… plain stupid. He was outside on laundry duty with the Yoshimitsu tachi when:
“Nice day huh Ichigo?”
“Yes, it is quite pleasant.”
“Just like you.”
“You think I’m pleasant? That’s thoughtful of you, Tsurumaru-dono.”
What was that even? Pleasant? Really? How smooth. The following attempts were questionable. Who was he kidding, they were all stupid. He tried commenting on Ichigo’s clothes but it ended up with them talking about actual clothing materials. He tried using ‘physical contact’ but then he forgot he injured his fingers so a worried Ichigo ended up taking him to the infirmary. He tried tagging along to bathe with Ichigo but his little brothers ended up following them and Tsurumaru suddenly found himself in the bath house with the Awataguchi. And his most recent attempt, an actual kiss on the cheek was brushed off as “That was a sweet goodnight kiss. I’ll see you tomorrow, Tsurumaru-dono.”
Tsurumaru wanted to scream. Why was it so hard to convey his feelings? He didn’t want to come off too strong by blurting out how he felt towards Ichigo. He wanted Ichigo to at least some signals back. Facing rejection was not in Tsurumaru’s to-do-list.
After 5 failed attempts, Tsurumaru sat on the open hallway corridor outside his room and sighed. He needed to rethink his strategy. As he was lost in thought, ichigo caught sight of him from inside and proceeded to bring some tea and sweets for them to enjoy together.
