During the war in Gaza (which I know is not totally over or "solved" despite the ceasefire), I got a lot of asks to boost various fundraisers for Palestinian people. I initially tried to post one a day while doing the only vetting I knew how to do, which was checking if they were on the Bees & Watermelons spreadsheet (which by all means, looks like it has some significant infrastructure behind it - I have no way to personally verify that though).
~~~~You can find all the Bees & Watermelons resources for Palestine here.~~~
However, it became too overwhelming in like a literal physical sense of how many asks I got, and I'm so sorry to everyone I never got to. Below is a link to a list of some good organizations to donate to to help Palestinian refugees. Each organization title is given in bold with a donation link at the bottom of the paragraph describing their work. Boost if you can, donate if you can.
I've done my best to vet the article itself, and it looks like the info about the author is at least consistent between the article and her LinkedIn. I can't find any complaints against Human Rights Careers as a source or its CEO, Robert Markus Fellner (though note, Human Rights Careers is a for-profit business entity, not a non-profit itself) They openly acknowledge that they may be compensated by the Human Rights educational courses they promote, so there seems to be a commitment to transparency.
I have also donated to Doctors Without Borders (listed in the article), UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency, unlisted), and USCPR (U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights, unlisted). I have personally engaged with USCPR, so I can vouch for them - they hold regular meetings/political actions and have a text alert list.
I'm clearing my inbox this week, and unfortunately, that means deleting all the old individual fundraiser request asks because there's so many, I don't have the time or resources to verify them, and a good few are copy-pastes of the exact same thing from different users, so there's also a likelihood that several are scams. I really do hope for peace and safety in Gaza, and I promise I have put some action behind that (not just thoughts and prayers) by participating in phone jams, calling my reps, fundraising, etc.
Here is a list of all the users who have messaged me about a fundraiser for Gaza/Palestinians (who I ultimately never got back to - I am so sorry). Click through at will and donate if you're okay with doing so without vetting.
If you are in the US and want to help with Palestine and Gaza, the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights has guides to help call and email representatives to demand a ceasefire amd that the US stop sending weapons immediately. They also have a list of protests in big cities like New York, LA, and DC.
"Hello [Senator’s Name], my name is [Your Name] and I am calling you to tell you to join Senator Bernie Sanders and the other Senators voting to stop the sale of arms to Israel.
Israel has committed mass atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza over the last year. This includes countless massacres, forced displacement, field executions, torture camps, total infrastructure destruction, forced starvation, and burning alive Palestinians like 19-year-old Sha'ban al-Dalou. This is a genocide, fueled by tens of thousands of U.S. bombs and at least $18 billion of our tax dollars sent to the Israeli military in violation of U.S. and international law.
The only way to stop the killing, from Palestine to Lebanon and beyond, is to cut off the endless and unconditional supply of U.S. weapons and military funding fueling Israel’s atrocities.
That starts with blocking the $20 billion weapons package to Israel. As a voter, your constituent, and a Citizen of United States.
I urge you to support halting all weapons and military funding to Israel now. Urgent action is needed to protect Palestinian, Lebanese, and other communities in the region, including U.S. citizens, whose lives are at stake.
Here's also an action link to sign as well:
URGENT: We have a narrow window to block $20 billion in weapons to Israel. This is the worst stage of the genocide yet. Israel is starving
Because I am human, and they are human, and we are all alive, and we all aspire to stay that way, to be alive and at peace, making bread and sharing wine like the ancestors of all religions and all places did before us.
I don't think there is a god. There is no one I'm trying to please or suck up to if that's what you're asking. People just deserve not to be kicked from their homes and slaughtered. I don't want excuses. I don't want to hear "but Hamas". There are no reasons to do what has been done to the Palestinian people for decades.
Go read up on it. Don't ask me for answers. I support Palestine, but I am not a source for information, nor do I claim to be. I aim to uplift those that know the truth so their words can be heard. Here's some links, go do something useful with them.
“This landmark case exposes a shocking and multi-layered planned conspiracy and campaign aimed at manipulating the public,” said Adv. Yifa Segal of the International Legal Forum.
According to KKL-JNF, close to 2,200 fires destroyed more than 14,200 hectares (35,000 acres) of agricultural land, nature reserves and forest – including JNF forests – and harmed local animal life. The estimated value of this destruction is a minimum of $50 million, according to the Foreign Ministry.
The suit’s goal is to shut down USCPR so that it can no longer fund-raise on behalf of these terror organizations, and to receive compensation for the land and people harmed in the attacks.
Segal also noted that in addition to the civil case, the team is working with authorities in Israel and the US to launch a formal investigation into the BDS National Committee (BNC) and related organizations. They are also pushing to have the BNC designated as a terrorist entity.
The suit explains that the BNC, a Palestinian coalition led by designated terror organizations, has been using USCPR to funnel tax deductible donations to it under the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement campaign umbrella.
