do you ever feel like the SOC fandom forgets that other characters besides kaz & inej have been through traumatic experiences? like, take wylan for example (since i can relate to his situation most). as someone who was abused as a kid and well into my teens, i cannot convey to you the pain of being so hurt by someone who was supposed to love you unconditionally. that pain is multiplied twofold when it's because of something out of your control— in wylan's case, dyslexia. you begin to think that something is wrong with you, that maybe if your own parent won't love you, who ever will? it makes you anxious, afraid, constantly walking on eggshells. it instills this shame at whatever your parents hated about you whether that thing was in your control or not. themes like that are somewhat recurring in wylan throughout the series, both from his POV and things picked up on by other characters. not to mention that matthias (it's implied due to the effect it had on him) saw his family die and had that experience used against him, and nina felt so unappreciated, so maliciously treated by zoya that she felt running off was a better option than continuing to be instructed by her (if my memory serves correct). and while you could make the claim that jesper never experienced trauma to that degree, being forced to hide something you can't help because people who hate you could find you and kill you is pretty fuckin' damaging if you ask me. anyways tl;dr soc fandom recognize characters other than kaz & inej 2kforever
(also before you attack my inbox, i'm not hating on either of those two, i love them a lot and the representation they offer. but other characters deserve recognition too yknow?)

... it was always very old and very young at once. It had always been and yet it was always learning itself. It was always alive and waiting to be alive again.
it’s not that matthias died, its that its his past that killed him that makes it a real punch in the gut. killed by his former self that makes it a real kick in the teeth. killed by the one part of himself that he wanted to change that makes it a real slap to the face. a real stomp on the foot. a real knee to the balls. a real

My name is Percy Jackson. I’m twelve years old. Until a few months ago, I was a boarding student at Yancy Academy, a private school for troubled kids in upstate New York. Am I a troubled kid? Yeah. You could say that.

What could I become if I stopped worrying about death, about pain, about anything? If I stopped trying to belong? Instead of being afraid, I could become something to fear.
