April 1, 2017. 4 years ago we did our first Ut Prosim Society Gala at McComas Hall Gym in Blacksburg VA. We provided the stage and black masking around it, as well as the projection screen and projector; the audio and all components needed for that; the lights, including ambient lighting, gobos, color, and table lighting; and of course, the power needs for everything involved. Unfortunately because of Covid, nothing is happening this year, but we cannot wait for next years event! #gala #utprosimsociety #utprosim #virginiatech #thatimayserve #mccomasgym #midwaypsllc #lights #gobo #staging #audio #deco #rigging #projection #liveevents #memories (at McComas Hall Gym) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNIWU-4hKY9/?igshid=1jucu0q4to20a
The Pylons evoke @Virginia.Tech core values. They are, from left to right, Brotherhood, Honor, Leadership, Sacrifice, Service, Loyalty, Duty, and Ut Prosim. I chose to stand by the pylons "Leadership" and "Service": 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝·𝐞𝐫·𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 /ˈlēdərˌSHip/ noun 1. the action of leading a group of people or an organization 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯·𝐢𝐜𝐞 /ˈsərvəs/ noun 1. the action of helping or doing work for someone. "You never know how or when you’ll have an impact, or how important your example can be to someone else." – Denzel Washington In 1953 the first black student was admitted to Virginia Tech. The first black student graduated in 1958. I stand, raised fists, in solidarity with those who have tried and derailed, tried and succeeded, and those who weren't even given a chance. 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬. To Eliza, Ruby, Seth, the Whitfields, the Kellys, the Johnsons, and even the Jones - this one is for you. #UtProsim #Classof2019 #NSBEGrad #BlackWomenPhDs #BlackWomenSTEM #ImFirst #FirstGenDoc #CountdowntoCommencement (at Virginia Tech College of Engineering) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6N6Qu2BahJ/?igshid=f5ufjafr6ql9
Bammmm💣💥💫Coming soon to an event near you......Can't wait to rock this classic bowtie. Visit @alumnihallvt when you get a chance! It's my favorite pit stock when I visit #blacksburg. Great selections! #thisishome #UtProsim #vt4lyfe (at Alumni Hall Virginia Tech)
Virginia Tech and Blacksburg Virginia are magical places. In the heart of the New River Valley it is a community of students, faculty, and residents that have pride and a sense of community. It's a place where the roots of adulthood begin to sprout and lifelong friendships are forged. It's a community of people who hold your hand tighter as the road gets rougher. Tonight I keep those affected by the events 10 years ago in my thoughts and in my heart. #hokies #neVerforgeT #virginiatech #utprosim #vtalumni #livefor32
Jeremy Codiroli believes so strongly in Ut Prosim, he got it tattooed on his arm.
The 2013 graduate of the Virginia Tech Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is currently a project manager for chemical manufacturing and consulting company ChemTreat and pursuing an M.B.A. through the Pamplin College of Business. He’s living in Richmond, Virginia, though it's not the only place he calls home — he spent his childhood moving from place to place with his father’s career in the U.S. Airforce. But everywhere he and his family of Hokies went (his mother, dad, and brother are all Hokie grads, and his sister is currently a freshman at Virginia Tech), they carried service close to their hearts.
“Doing service is something that’s important to me. It feels right and it feels natural to give back to others,” Jeremy said. “With a line like ‘Ut Prosim,’ it pretty much defines exactly what I’ve always felt and it’s who I am. It’s part of me.”
Among the ways he lives out Ut Prosim, Jeremy volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, financially supports a few different missionaries, sponsors leaders of Young Life, a non-denominational Christian ministry, and bundles packages of food and necessities for homeless people in Richmond. Once he finishes the M.B.A. program at Virginia Tech, he says he would love to start a nonprofit that helps ease the homelessness issue in Richmond using strategic business principles.
How do you or other Hokies you know live out Ut Prosim? Reblog with your stories!

Unconditional love is to give love to another being, expecting nothing in return. Please consider going out to your local humane society, rescue or shelter, to find your source of unconditional love. You'll then find that you ask yourself, "Who saved who?" and looking back with no regrets. @vtprevetclub #virginiatech #utprosim #vt #hokiepride #prevetstudent #dontshopadopt #rescueanimals #rescuedismyfavoritebreed
