I’ll be saying bye to Gloucester soon...➡️📍☘️ No words for the tug NI has on me, and I cannot wait. 🏠👨👩👧👧 My 3 years at Hartpury really have been a great experience, it’s taught me how to be resilient, resourceful and above all grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given, no matter how big or small...I’m leaving a totally different person to the girl that started out across the water. So here’s to making more memories with old faces and the new, as I start University of Ulster in September. 👩🏻🎓⏳📚 Blessed to have an amazing family and base to return to. 🙏🏼 No more fleeting visits, home really is where the heart is.❤️ #university #student #endofyear #hartpury #uuj #masters #home #belfast #northernireland #itsbeenalongtimecoming #family #blessed #onwardsandupwards #memories #newchapter #homeforgood (at Gloucester, Gloucestershire)

These were a final few designs I looked at for the Bird Project. Firstly, I looked at different ways in which I could design the image breaks inbetween the text of the website. The styles above are simple but effective, but i decided to use Photoshop to go for a more low poly design and was able to use this throughout the site to keep it consistent and professional.
Below were a few designs for the ‘fun facts’ table. I went for a table stype instead of icons as I think it looks more neat and easier to read when all of the information is kept together.
To the right, I looked a few styles in which I could incorporate into my smooth scrolling javascript feature. This was for the ‘back to top’ button. I think the most effective one, without making my site looking too compact is a simple arrow. However, I had considered a few of the styles drawn above.
And finally, I looked at the final colourscheme in which I wanted to use for the site. I want my site to be bright and colourful, just like the bird itself.
Heroes and Villains - Font
When it came to choosing the font for this assignment, I knew i wanted to go down a typewriting style font route. Only to reveal when I was researching the font, there were many different styles that were similar in ways. In order to help me decide a final font, I wrote the title out in a few fonts and put them all together and was able to see from this what one i preferred.
IF THE MOON WERE ONLY 1 PIXEL
An example use to show the power of pause, it was interesting to see pacing and pauses within the site. However, if there were to many pauses the user would get bored easily and leave the site, since the pacing from planet to planet starts of slow then speeds up, then slowing down again before speeding up then slowing down again before coming to a pause. It is very simple but very effective.

THE POWER OF PAUSE II
In week 5 we learnt about the power of pause, about how effective it can be in not only design but in everyday life. To show us the effect it has we watched a video of a machine vs a man telling a story; when the machine spoke it was plain with no emotion, then when the man spoke there was so much emotion and it was more dramatic when it was told by the man.
The Standardistas (Christopher Murphy and Nicklas Persson) extol the virtues of getting away from the computer and (dare we say it?) abandoning the default use of Google and Wikipedia as conduits of inspiration, in favour of simple tools and lateral thinking to grease the runners of your creative sled.
The blog above comes to a conclusion that it is best to start the design process on paper rather than on the computer, the computer is the last place you should start. That the good ideas grow on paper!
I agree with this as I find most of my ideas that are good I have started of by doing wee sketches on paper or putting all my thoughts onto a page like a moodboard to see the direction that my work is going in.
