I've been rewatching and noticed that early on, ladybug barely called chat noir any cat names. first, she mostly called him minou, very rarely (when upset with him) matou, and only once they become closer does she start regularly calling him chaton. I think she uses it mostly when flirting joking with him or just feeling affectionate.
