As you can tell from the photos keto did not happen at dinner last night. Eeeek, I know.
After two and a half hours of stop and go traffic we finally made it to Carytown. I hadn’t eaten much earlier in the day so my head felt fuzzy by the time we arrived at 7. We quickly dropped our bags off at the cutest Airbnb before walking around the corner to go find some dinner.
We ended up at Greek on Cary and once I saw the cocktail menu I decided I was going for it and since I was getting a cocktail eating keto went out the window. We got the appetizer sampler, which turned out to be just a mix of hummus and two baskets of pita bread, then I got a chicken gyro and a side of fries. Soooooooooo good. So good!
To continue to live it up, after dinner we stopped by another restaurant to get two dessert crepes to go. I got the brownie crepe with a side of vanilla ice cream and Kevin got one with berries and whipped cream. We waited a few hours after dinner to eat the dessert but man, I felt my heart racing and my stomach expanding. So.much.sugar. I thought I was going to vomit all night. Normally, eating carbs don’t affect me at all but this time it did, hard, and I’m not happy about it.
When we woke up we both weren’t hungry so we decided to forgo our original plan to eat brunch and instead went to the Italian Cafe and got some coffee. It was so lovely to just sit in a cafe together sipping coffee and not worry about where we had to be or what we had to do.
After coffee we hit the road for our four hour drive up to Maryland and made it to the lake where we were greeted by my parents, sister, brother-in-law and their five kids. We didn’t eat all day except for the coffee until dinner so I feel like I kind of made up for the carb loading the night before, especially since I randomly ended up eating keto for dinner.
When I found out we were going to Dairy Queen for dinner I was pretty disappointed. I still hadn’t decided if I was eating keto or not and figured their low carb options were going to suck and the temptations would be overwhelming. Blizzards, fluffy buns, fried chicken and fries galore! What did I get? A grilled chicken BLT salad with ranch. Why? I have no idea. I’m honestly surprised I didn’t get a crispy chicken sandwich with fries.
After dinner we all went to Walmart to stock up the house with food for the week and we stocked our cart with all keto options. I don’t know what I’m doing since I haven’t written off carbs for the week. I’m just going to take it meal by meal and see how it goes I guess!
