Well? Don't leave us hanging! Was he praised or not?
asjadhaksjdh this is the most valid question.
well after his fast lap and him saying this was good considering the tires, the most he got was bryan going "we are happy with that if you are happy with that" and he just said "i am." but with enough force that we all know he was quietly huffing and puffing about having to say this instead of getting told he's a good boy... stern words will be had in the garage, i assume.
So if your girlfriend asks you if you would still date her if she was a worm, you're apparently supposed to say yes. But if I date someone who's a worm to begin with, I'm a "sexual deviant" who's "permanently banned from Bass Pro Shop".
So @annadir commented this under this post (or maybe it was because of @rogueangelshunter response to mine) and I’m gonna try to answer what I think although everything I know from the industry comes pretty much from following @occamshipper. And maybe I get things wrong. But here’s my take:
Jensen’s been vocal about a reboot for a while, even before they announced the final season. So I gather everyone kind of let him do his thing.
Except he was really fast. Maybe with the finale fiasco rights were sold quickly and Jensen was the one ready and offering to get them.
I feel Jared is not business-savvy, for one thing, as he relies on others to advance his carreer. It might not even have crossed his mind to buy the rights. He might have simply thought anybody doing a reboot needs him, so he doesn’t need to worry about it. (this is all speculation but it makes sense, being #1 on the call sheet and half the main characters duo). From recent events, it feels like he thought his friendship with Jensen was enough to guarantee him a spot in any reboot. I think he felt confident and didn’t need to bother with rights or anything.
Jensen’s been really good at PR even if he was irate at the ending. He made sure to not ruffle any feathers. We, the fandom, could see all the shade he threw, but you had to pay a LOT of attention. Like, an interview BEFORE the finale where Jensen says his fave monster is vampires because Dean knows how to deal with them easy peasy. That shade was really subtle.
I suggest Kripke explained to Jensen what the finale was trying to accomplish. I suspect he explained how Jensen had no choice. But Kripke always loved Jensen, and Jensen never had but praise for Kripke. What Jensen told everyone about how Kripke turned him around on the finale was PR (I think). Jensen is a smooth fucker who will do all the PR and keep his idea until he can do something about it. And the first thing he did was tell everyone he was ok with the finale and ok with what Kripke told him. He put every Person Upstairs at ease. No feathers ruffled.
And then Jensen could go and get the rights to SPN and do whatever the f he wants with it. But notice how the first thing he does is tell a (seemingly) het story. There are still no feathers ruffled (yet).
So I don’t think anybody selling the rights was worried about Jensen “doing something else with it”. They made their money, closed the shop and made a bit more money selling the rights. I think it’s that simple.
They always say "give the girls swords". They never say "give the girls the proper training and equipment to safely use those swords" and that makes me sad, bc what use does a girl have for a sword of she has not learned/is not learning how to use? What is she going to do? Use it as a decoration? Also why do the memes never give us sword sheaths to go with our swords? Do you know how cool it would be to pull a sword out of the sheath like a badass medieval knight?
okay BUT I have never touched a proper sword in my life yet I guarantee if I was allowed to wield such a weapon I would just. instantly upgrade into my final form, no training necessary. I would very much like to have the opportunity to unsheath a sword tho. the power I, and all women, would have by being able to carry swords. yes.
