This is the guitar in my Axe of the Day post, so I figured I would put up a quick sound check. I'm using this to track a part tonight, so I took a little break for a few minutes. This is an idea from a few months back that keeps coming back into my consciousness. . . This is my Epiphone Goth Explorer, tuned to Drop C, going through the Peavey ValveKing 100 (down to 20w) and Schecter Hellraiser 4 12 cabinet. . . Another random bit of noodling. I keep trying to do something with this 5/4 dissonant part, and the other bit is sort of a dark pentatonic exercise, replacing the 5th with the tri-tone, or "blues" note. Useful if you need to vamp over a diminished chord or a minor 7 flat 5 chord (geek alert). Anyway, it sounds metal, and with the dissonance, it kind of works. Probably nothing, though, 😅😅 . . This is my Fender Mustang P90, tuned to E flat standard, going through the Peavey ValveKing II Clean Channel, Volume on 3, and Schecter Hellraiser 4 12 cabinet. . So I posted awhile ago I would be upgrading pickups. This was the cheap JEM Jr. I git last year. Plays pretty nice, but sounded weak. I got DiMarzio Gravity Storms for the next and bridge, and put a True Velvet in the middle. I had to tweak the EQ and I'm still working on it, but I can see a big difference. The bridge pickup hums a but, so I'm not sure what's going on there, but I'll get after that. Anyway, this is a little poppy verse riff I came up with while checking out the new pups.
