With Saseki busy taking time to prepare for his exhibition, Yuichi had decided to brace himself and do some grocery shopping for him. It's an odd thing, shopping for food when by now he's almost forgotten what a lot of it truly tastes like. Sometimes he gets tempted and tries some for himself, but at best, it tastes weird or bland; at worst, even a taste makes him sick-- all of this, of course, with the exception of tasting through blood.
But he knows what Saseki usually gets, and he tries to be mindful of what in the kitchen is low, most often so he can bring it home from work.
The shopping was done, and he'd made it back to the apartment and started putting everything away. But as he pulled out the bag of rice from the bottom of the sack, the sound of grains landing on the table had him zeroing in. There had been a hole in the bag, and now, about a third of the bag had spilled across the table... and every corner of his mind had set on counting each and every piece.

After two miserable years in captivity, Sengo is finally free.
Well...
It hasn't been quite that simple. But he's choosing to push that deep, deep down inside for the time being, because right now... He's walking!
Or... stumbling, really, like a newborn calf.
His strong, powerful tail, which made him agile as could be in the water, had instead split into these two clumsy legs in a process he could only describe as agonizing.
It would be a bit embarrassing, the reactions garnered from the few people out at this time, surely put off by his strange and struggling manner of movement (and definitely not by his sheer lack of clothing)-- but he's far too busy staring in wonder at everything around him.
So many of the buildings are dark, and their doors don't open when he tries to pull at their handles. But then he sees one with light coming from inside-- he spots the word 'pharmacy' which he can more or less infer the meaning of-- and excitedly rushes to the doors, using the wall for support... He pulls, and it opens!
Excited and almost overwhelmed by this new discovery, he clambers inside, wide ochre eyes darting back and forth across everything.
Shelves, boxes, bottles, bags, lights... So much! Oh, is that... food? He moves toward this aisle, haphazardly using shelves as a guide along the way, knocking off items with mumblings of "oops...! oh dear..."
There is a particularly shiny metallic bag that catches his eye, with 'chips' printed on it near the bottom... He doesn't know what they are, but if they're in such a pretty bag, they must be delicious, right?
He grabs the bag and haphazardly rips it open, half the bag's contents flying out and to the ground, and starts munching.
"Oh? Yummy...!"

Yuichi always did have kind of an affinity for rainy weather. Sometimes he would just... go walk about the area and come back soaking wet, but in his mind, at least it was something to feel beyond the fog he'd sometimes find himself in holed up inside.
And now, as a vampire, he could do this more often if he wanted, with (as far as he was aware, anyway) quite a decreased chance of suffering any real consequences, even if it's a cold rain. Just one of the perks, he supposes.
However, tonight, he's grateful for more than just that vampiric trait.
He hadn't been too far away when his sensitive ears had picked up a voice-- familiar even in the sounds of a struggle-- and immediately recognized it as Ookurikara. He's not sure how he'd managed to scare him off, but as he saw the assailant dash out of the alleyway, Yuichi meets them, sending them off with a hard shove (one could hear a hard THUNK of a back against concrete from a ways down the street) and an almost feral hiss.
He keeps his vision locked onto them until they are far down the street, and it's only when he loses sight of them does he snap back his attention to Ookurikara.
"Are you alright?" he calls, his voice not yet shaking off its gruffness. He scurries toward him, though even before he's made it to him he's picked up the scent of blood-- Ookurikara's for certain. "Did they bite you?"

i don't think i ever truly determined Why or How yuichi lived in a 2? 3? bedroom apartment by himself in the vampire au before saseki moved in but i like to think it was a complete accident somehow. like obviously he would never have looked for anything bigger than a 1br, i know in our pre-sani verse and most modern verses he'd live in a studio. but maybe somehow some paperwork got mixed up and the people he rents from were like "please don't leave we need someone living there" and gave him somewhat of a discount?? and he's like oh okay.... like he could have easily moved elsewhere still but he was maybe desperate skdidjdks
he probably worked a lot so he could afford it and been there so long he just got used to it. sase moving in was a godsend (in more ways than one) lol

Nocturnal or no, Yuichi has never been a 'morning' person. He sleeps so heavily, and waking up is so hard...
Both of those factors only increase when he's snuggled up with a boyfriend or two (and perhaps even more after certain activities).
His eyes scrunch up a little at the kiss to his cheek, and the arms around Saseki's middle tighten some to pull them closer together.
After an ungraceful moment of half-awake untangling his foot from the blankets, he finally hooks a leg over Saseki's as a further silent protest to him getting out of bed. Saseki is so warm and he's so comfortable and content...
"Don't leeeave meee..."
A pitiful sentence, the sleepy pout evident in his voice as he presses his cheek against Saseki's shoulder.
forgot I drew this the other day lol
vampire!yui's closet/bed lol
“That’s it… just relax. I’ve got you.” (what if Papa Koga finally confesses to Yuichi who he is in the middle of him trying to calm him down/heal him 😭😭) @zantedeschia-praesul

Since that devastating night that nearly took Saseki from him, Yuichi had been focused first and foremost on keeping his lover safe. But... things were better on that front, and as much as he was kind of dreading it, he had something else to face.
It's after sunset now as he approaches the temple. He hasn't been here in ages, and the familiar paths and hydrangeas don't do as much as he'd hoped to quell the unease that stirs inside him.
He wanders around the temple grounds for a bit, as if that would help him prepare himself, but all it does is make him more anxious. Why is he so afraid? He's a vampire now-- his own survival is the least of his concerns most of the time. But he's feeling much like he had after first being turned-- on edge, afraid.
He'd been subconsciously avoiding going to their usual bench, as if that were the only place they could meet. So when Kogarasumaru approaches him from the darkness of another path, he can't help but take a few steps back. The elder man--vampire-- is dainty, even a few centimeters shorter than he is, but there is something about him that strikes a reverent but potent sense of fear into him that he can't make sense of. All he knows is he'd best run, and--
Kogarasumaru takes him by the wrist and, too quickly, cups Yuichi's face so that he has no choice but to meet his eyes.
"My child... there is no need to run. That's it... just relax. I've got you."
Yuichi stops-- and in this almost-haze he can't tell if it's by his own volition or the other's vampiric compulsion. All he can do is stare into those dark rubies and... relax he does, enough that he no longer feels the need to bolt.
"Yes... Yes, you've got me..."
