jasmine, calla lily, peony?
thanks for the ask :)
JASMINE: What color looks best on you?
GREEN!!! that’s my favourite colour, at one point this summer I realized I had more green than anything else and since then I’ve made a point to pretty much only buy clothes in green.
CALLA LILY: If you died right now, what song would you want to play at your funeral?
bit of a morbid ask, but I know someone who played the “welcome” intro on beyoncé’s homecoming to walk to their reception at their wedding, and even though a funeral is an odd comparison…I think I’d like that maybe.
PEONY: What’s your favorite hot beverage?
yeah, as if I can choose! but right now I brought my milk frother (4 dollars on sale on amazon, best buy ever) to my dorm and matcha lattes at night has been my motivation to work for the past few weeks.
hello this is cee from thestudycee!! my url is now ceesdesk :-)
it has been a while since i’ve posted but here are some lecture notes from my summer physics class!!
supplies used: muji b5 ruled notebook, pilot juice up 0.4 in blue, muji retractable 0.5 in yellow, kuru toga 0.5 mechanical pencil, washi tape from asia
Hey kat! I’m starting to apply to and tour colleges, and one of my criteria is that I want the college I go to to have a good music program (not necessarily for a major tho). What sort of questions should I ask/what should I look for?
hey kenzie! this is kind of a broad question, to be honest, which is why it took me a little while to reply (ahh sorry about that!). i’m not sure if you plan on taking any music classes, or if you just want to participate in an ensemble, or both, or something else, but here are some tips!
disclaimer: these tips are based on my personal experiences, observations, interactions, and preferences as a music student, so not all of these may apply to you. just a heads up!
what are the requirements? most universities will require an audition (if not at the time you apply, then probably after you enter). that’s completely normal, and it’s something that you should try not to stress too much about. beyond that, if they require a lot from you (like they expect you to already know everything about theory or something lol idk), then that may be a bit much. a good music program can be demanding sometimes, but it should still be open to students of all levels and majors.
what kind of classes are offered? there should at least be the essentials (theory, musicianship, harmony, history/culture, etc.). from there, take a look at other classes and electives. ideally, there should be a wide variety to cater to most (if not all) areas of music (composition, conducting, (ethno)musicology, technology, performance, jazz, songwriting, interdisciplinary fields, etc.), but if the options are limited, that’s okay too, as long as there’s something that you’re interested in!
what kind of opportunities are offered? a good music program would most likely have a variety of good ensembles that you can join (orchestra, choir, marching band, wind ensemble, acapella groups, etc.). it’s good if they offer private lessons for your instrument as well. it’s also great if they make announcements about opportunities to participate in music competitions (local, national, and/or international), to do research, to apply for internships, and more. this shows that they really advocate for music and that they care about your future!
who is the staff? there’s most likely a faculty page on the music department’s website. read through their bios and see where they went to school and what kind of work they’ve done. however, the staff should not only be knowledgeable of music and be good at teaching it, but they should also be good communicators and care about your well-being. the advisor(s) should also be organized and easy to reach out to. it would be a good idea to speak with them and ask questions, since they’ll most likely offer you much better advice and guidance than i ever can, ahaha.
hope this helps! i’m going to tag my friend @jinstudies, who also studies music and has more experience and may want to add onto this. :)

Sunflower and heaven?
sunflower: have you always lived where you do now?
yep! i’ve lived in california my whole life.
heaven: favorite color combinations?
light slate blue + light grey (like my blog hehe), lavender + white, blush pink + white, light soft brown + cream/beige, and baby blue + white! oh, and of course, the classic black and white. :)
ask game!!
caramel delights?
favorite study spot:
my bed lol. i have a desk right next to it but its not as comfy, especially in the winter!! lol
i think once i get to college ill be able to find nicer places to study but for now i love my humble abode
sweet pea and queen anne's lace?
Queen Anne's Lace: who do you trust the most?
Probably my sister (we got this mutual agreement on where we don't reveal what we bitch about LOL) or my grandma!
Sweetpea: who means the world to you? Why?
My grandmother for sure, if I have to choose one person. She took care of me when I was growing up and knowing that someone's old and may not stay around for as long as I would have liked just makes you appreciate them more
Thank you for the ask! 💚
