A recipe unique to Uttarakhand, bhaang ki chutney or भांगे की चटनी as it is called is a simple side dish made from grinding roasted bhaang or hemp seeds; and then adding cumin, jaggery, salt, red /green chillies. . . .
It is better to use a sil-batta to grind and not a mixie. Hard work does taste different. . . .
If you add those big Pahari lemons we have grown up eating (when relatives from Dad’s side came visiting), the taste is tangier. Better. The chutney tastes best with simple jeera aloo, poori, pahari aloo ke gutke…actually everything including daal chawal. . . .
Born to a punjabi mother, it is only in @arvindpoet’s home that I tasted this delicious accompaniment to food. . . .
You just can’t stop having it. And no do not worry. This chutney will not get you intoxicated. This will definitely add the needed zing to your food! . . .
I didn’t make this chutney! AJ's mother did. ❤️
