Here's a Ripley's Believe it or Not fact! There are still people who think VEGANS are weird! Is that because they have compassion for animals and don't want them killed? Or possibly because they know Animal Agriculture is the single biggest contributor to Climate Change which is the greatest threat our planet is facing? Or because they like to look after their health and not get common diseases from eating a typical animal product Western diet like Heart disease, strokes, diabetes, cancer, high cholesterol, kidney failure etc? So, vegans are weird because they believe in love, mercy and compassion and KNOW eating animals is weird? Now I'm really confused? It is extremely scary when one realises how few people believe in Climate Change. It is quite possible that more people believe in zombies or vampires! The difference is that people believe that they may actually bump into the living dead, but Climate Change? It's all very depressing and doom and gloom and quite frankly, who really believes that New York or London will disappear beneath the seas? Basically, these nasty scientists tell us that the planet becomes uninhabitable by humans ( and all species that breath oxygen ) if the average temperatures goes up by 4 - 6 degrees Celsius. Factoring in the increase we've already seen in heat waves, droughts, wildfires, massive storms, food and water shortages, desertfication, ocean acidification and sea level rise some are seeing the writing on the wall: We're all gonna die! Maybe sentience and the knowledge of our inevitable death have given us a sort of survival vertigo that we can't overcome. "As the separate paths of environmental exploitation quickly and quietly converge around us, we might just tumble off the precipice, drunk on fossil fuels, making duck faces into black mirrors". The thermodynamic forcing effects of an ice-free arctic by 2018 don't seem so threatening if you stand to gain billions of dollars by sending drill bits into the potentially huge reservoirs there. As the old song went ... "and it's one, two, three what are we fighting for ... Don't ask me ....I don't give a damn...whoopee ..we're all gonna die" We might have a slim shot if we drastically slam on the brakes but the only way we're going to do this is to stop eating animals. That's it. That's our only shot. Your choice. We can ask one of the last few good men, Pope Francis, who is trying to save the planet but who hasn't yet been told that eating animals is going to be the death of us all.
