As the coronavirus outbreak continues to haunt our every day lives, I’ve thought about Nevil Shute’s classic novel ‘On the Beach’. In the novel, a group of people await the arrival of deadly radiation spreading towards them, following the effects of an atomic war. In its Danish translation, the title of the novel was alternatively changed to “Ventetid”, which means “waiting time.” Hopefully, this crisis will not play out as the events of Shute’s novel, but I think the term “ventetid” incapsulates the feeling we’re all living through these days. If you’re in isolation, I recommend the book! /Mulle
