Even if the striking young subject of Antonio Mancini's 1879 Il Saltimbanco weren't himself captivating, the luminescence of Mancini's painting would be: as the Tate writes, Mancini was adept at "glittering effects of light and thick impasto, even incorporating tin-foil in some of his later pictures."
He applied his impressive technique primarily to fairly humble subjects: as did the Verisimo, whose goal, according to Christie's, "was to represent, in their prose, the real essence of society: daily scenes of the lower classes. Antonio Mancini was able to recreate in paint what poets were writing about."
That didn't prevent, however, Mancini's including fairly sophisticated symbolism: "deriving the pose of the figure," as the Philadelphia Museum of Art puts it, "from traditional representations of Christ bound and displayed to the public."
He echoes the link with the subtly cross-like decorations behind the acrobat.
Coffee Fail
As a former barista at Starbucks, I was exposed to tons of different coffees and ways to make coffee. During my coffee journey of brewing and doing tastings - I became extremely fond of espresso and the thick coffee brewed by a French Press. I prefer thickening my batches when I brew with a coffee maker or a pour-over. ( Now I like Arabic coffee too :))
Black, strong and bitter coffee is my all time favorite thing to drink.
I just want to express my utter disappointment with American coffee makers now that I am aware lol half the small scoops of coffee grounds per cups of water...
Yuck...
Then there's the super fails : The Keurig and Verisimo. -________-
Neither of the finished products of these machines are coffee - in my book.
Plus the machines are constructed like doody.
It's freakin coffee scented brown water. -____- Sorry not sorry.
Keurigs and Verisimos suck and make boring bland drinks.
Verisimo I Don't Care
Verisimo I don't care.

I am tired of playing fair.
Here I am folding
the cards.
Let's give it another try.
I'm in control
You play my game.
When someone grabs the dehydrated milk pods from our Verisimo display, thinking they're creamers...
And I don't say anything
How do you feel about the Starbucks Verismo?
It’s a piece of shit that Starbucks shamelessly pushes on people who don’t know better. It’s definitely a perfect example of the emperors new clothes happening in real life. No one wants to admit that the lattes taste like ass because you can’t mask the taste of dehydrated milk. Yet everyone is all like “yea this great”.
I certainly would never waste money on one. Hell, if you GAVE me one, I’d either sell it or toss it.
Loved the ad. Very well done and so true!
