This is a follow-up to my post on "shaping window managers" that would use non-rectangular window shapes, with an example of how it might work at a vague high level. I think one way of doing this would be, since scrolling works in many applications, to simply render the window twice (or more), and then just make the WM coordinate where in the page it flows from one window to the other.

I really like the "split" and "join" operations. Imagine if you could group unrelated windows so they behave as one (and not even just the way tabs do that).
