Lennox doesn't know her mom’s name or what she looks like, she just knows that she was one of the women in the crackhouse where she was born and raised in. She just doesn't know which one specifically.

She doesn't know who her dad is either.

Lennox didn't have a last name so she picked her own at the social service offices:  Silverstein from the author of The Giving Tree, Shel Silverstein. That was the only book she knew at that time.

One of the junkies at the crackhouse where she was being raised injected her with heroine when she was just six years old. She got admitted to the hospital when she was nine for withdrawals. The incident ended up on a local Detroit newspaper, hiding her identity, of course.
