Time Shattered Scientist: Chapter 5, Visiting Treasure Canyon
“Remind me why we are letting the beast follow us?” Gaster asked, his joint body walking through Treasure Canyon, the large gem filled canyon in the center of Utah. The canyon walls made entirely of various gemstones, in a rainbow of colors. Power radiated off the walls, making Vetster grin.
“Because, there are a few, eager test subjects who call this canyon home, and I’d like to see how they fare against our monster” Vet replied. “Here comes one now.”
Ishmael walked towards them, looking very, very angry. “Listen not Vet! I don’t know who you think you are, or what you’ve done to Hood and Aaron, but it ends here”
Ishmael suddenly began sprinting towards Vetster, his spear now a glowing purple sword with a glowing dark wooden handle. Vetster stood, waiting. Aroodamate followed behind, by at least a mile, the amalgamation unfortunately slow moving.
Ishmael swung his sword, the blade slicing through Vetster’s chest like a hot knife through butter.
“Oh dear” Vetster’s overlay dripping with mocking sarcasm as his body instantly closed the wound “my my Ishmael, that sure hurt, please don’t do it again.”
Ishmael yelled, slicing off His head. Vetster stepped back, catching his fallen head. He laughed “wow, you are quite the angry one aren’t you? Beautiful, emotional study is always invigorating! “
Vetster stepped forward, placing his head back onto his body. “Now, may I try?”
Ishmael’s face twisted in a confused scowl. Vetster’s grin widened, Ishmael’s sword suddenly in his hand. Ishmael stepped back.
“You know what?” Vetster stepped to the side, standing before Ishmael was now Aroodamate. “I want to watch you fight them instead, without weapons. “
Ishmael stepped back once more, Aroodamate stepped closer, both heads growling, sensing his power.
“I’ll free you both.” Ishmael’s hands sparked with purple flame. “Even if I have to kill you both first and bring you back to do so!”
Aroodamate stepped back from the flame, then suddenly the Hooded head’s hand sparked to life with an orange flame, the furred hand became a spiked ball.
Ishmael launched forward, scorching the ground behind him. Fireball after fireball flew from his hands exploding on impact with his former friends. Aroodamate stepped back, deflecting a few with his spiked ball.
Suddenly Ishmael was face to face with the beast, close enough to subdue them easily. He hesitated, a foolish mistake. The hooded head punched hard, his fist burning red with fire. Ishmael fell back hard, landing on a gem formation, the pointed, hard crystals impaling his chest.
Ishmael groaned, struggling to free himself. Aroodamate roared loudly, the hooded eye glowing, suddenly the gems expanded in size, growing wider and taller. Ishmael groaned out in pain, the gems puncturing his lungs and heart. Soon, gems grew through his hands, legs, neck, and eyes, his body completely overrun with crystals.
“Vell now.” Lukas called out from atop the canyon wall. “You do sure seem to bring death along with ya’ don’t you mister Veterinarian?”
“Lukas Müler. The world renowned geologist and mason. Well my dear friend, I hate to disappoint you, but I am not the Veterinarian. Call me Vetster. However, calling this beast Death, is a very accurate description.”
Aroodamate roared, seeing Lukas uptop the canyon wall. Lukas scoffed, stomping the ground. Instantly, Aroodamate became insealed in rock, the heads still out.
“Your pet doesn’t scare me. And neither do you sir.” He jumped down, sliding down the crystal wall, down to Vetster. “I see you took Ishmael’s sword, i’m gonna take it back from you.”
Lukas grinned, “I hoped you’d say that” The crystal walls shifted and swallowed Lukas inside. Vetster stood confused. Shortly after the entire canyon wall stepped out, in a humanoid form, at its center was Lukas.
“Gem manipulation. This specimens requires further study.”Shadows filled the canyon, blotting out the sun with its darkness. Lukas’s gem suit stepped forward, stomping around randomly to try and find it’s target. Unwittingly, one stomp frees Aroodamate, while simultaneously knocking the beast out.
Slowly the shadows fade away, seeping themselves into the crystals, turning them ink black. Lukas looked down at the now clear canyon floor, Aroodamate unconscious on the ground, Vetster nowhere to be scene.
“Now vwhere has that varmit gone?” Soon, the shadows had completely taken over every last gem of Lukas’s suit. “Vwhat the hell?” Despite his best efforts, the crystals refused to respond to Lukas’s will.
“Well, it seems the subject can’t control dark mystic crystals, taking note of subjects response to realization” Vetster’s voice reverberated in the crystal suit. “Beginning pain endurance test now. “
The crystal suit launched Lukas out, directly down onto the floor. He landed directly on his head, the impact so powerful, his body crushed his skull, snapped his neck, decapitated itself, and broke his spine.
“Hmm” The crystals began falling to the ground and reforming themselves back into the canyon wall. The shadows leaked out, reforming Vetster’s body.
“Too forceful, subject dead upon impact with canyon floor, keeping note that not every ultra individual is blessed with such high resistance. Will begin looking for next test subjects. Test subject number one, time name ‘Aroodamate’ unconscious after being stomped on by, approximately twenty feet tall crystal golem. “
Vetster sighed, “good day of testing, hmm, who should we study next?”
Vetster bent down, picking up Ishmael’s sword. “I’m not normally one for trophies, but I’ll keep this sword for further studies on its matter shifting abilities.”
He looked up and down the canyon before continuing his walk down the canyon, “a truly beautiful place, I must harvest some of these gems for further research before we move on.”
He smiled, trailing his hand along the gem wall, pulling a gem out every few feet, studying it intently before either putting it back into the wall, or placing it in his pocket.
“Stunning natural beauty.”
