Headcanons about adult fei rune? 😛

Okay okay OKAY I love this ask,, get ready...

First off, I haven’t finished the Chronicle Mode update yet, so everything here is based only on the first update. I might contradict later canon.

Ref of the guy so we can visualize him better

• I see Fei and Vic’s relationship as more than just master and apprentice. Fei sees Vic as a reflection of himself when he was younger, which makes him feel almost paternal toward him. Their bond is strong, but Vic is sometimes afraid of disappointing Fei. Fei genuinely appreciates Vic’s efforts, yet he feels a quiet sadness because he dislikes being treated as someone people fear, brings back memories from his own childhood. Any of them has talked about this openly yet.

• Fei volunteered for his position. He chose this path because he wanted to protect people, but he never expected a threat as massive as the MindEater. Now the pressure is slowly crushing him. As the public face of the [long ahh department name that I forgot], he tries to stay composed, but sometimes he breaks down in private, where no one can see him vulnerable.

Vic has seen Fei cry a few times, and this deeply scares him because he worries that if Fei finds out he was seen in that state, he might grow distant. That won’t actually happen, but Vic doesn’t know that.

• Fei sees Wonderbot and Cryptix/Arno as family, and it pains him to watch them age, especially Cryptix. Sometimes Cryptix spaces out or loses track of a conversation. He’s still a brilliant doctor, but age causes him to slip occasionally. When that happens, Fei gently redirects the conversation so Cryptix can continue naturally, making it seem like he solved it himself, without anyone noticing the moment of confusion.

Before the MindEaters became the massive threat they are now, Fei would return from meetings frustrated, openly complaining that officials were preventing him from doing his job properly. He sensed the situation would escalate, and he was absolutely right, that PTSD alertness ✨ working wonderfully.

• Fei keeps in touch with most of the former SSC. Many of them are part of a peloton led by Saru (this is absolutely part of my delusions, you wanted HCs and you'll get them). Fei’s role is to coordinate and assign them to Saru, who then leads evacuation efforts and civilian protection.

Now the following HCs contain spoilers for Chronicle Mode without the update

• Fei does not remember what adult Kinako looks or sounds like. From his perspective, his mother is dead. He only knew her as a 14-year-old girl for about a month, and later saw her briefly as an adult in the hospital. For Fei, that was around 15 years ago.

This explains why he doesn’t recognize “Kinako” now, but still feels a deep respect and emotional pull toward her, something he doesn’t fully understand.

• At first, he strongly disagreed with sending Vic on the mission, believing it was far too much responsibility for a child. But when things spiraled out of control, Fei was the first to push Vic into the caravan. At that point, Fei already got reports of people getting bombs on their chests, and his priority became protecting Vic at any cost.
