He found her floating above the mists.

Vin had always liked to float. If a Mistborn placed a coin and pushed on it straight up, they could reach a point where the distance to the ground was far enough that the strength of the push was just enough to keep them in place. Not falling. Not rising. Just…suspended, concealed from the eyes below by the mists. Up here, it was almost as if time didn’t pass. Vin had her own little frozen moment to herself.

He found her on accident, really. Elend had been pacing on top of the building. He had no idea what he was going to say tomorrow. Ham and Dox had tried to help, but he needed a moment to think. A moment where people didn’t expect anything of him.

He’d been on the rooftop muttering to himself, mostly looking at his feet, when he noticed three coins on the ground. He bent to pick them up, but they seemed forced to the ground. Like someone was pushing on them.

He looked up at the sky and smiled. Were the mists swirling more rapidly around the place just above him? It was hard to say, but Elend pushed on the coins. He soared up, up over the country he’d sworn to protect, up out of the world he was used to.

“Vin,” he said softly. Vin twisted and looked down at the figure ascending to her, suddenly tense. But when she saw who was coming, she relaxed.

Elend soared out of his kingdom, his life, his world, and wrapped himself around the woman he loved.

And time stood still.

I don't usually look for/read smut fanfiction (not that I have anything against it, it's just not usually my thing), but goddamnit why is there NOTHING for Elend and Vin that is remotely steamy??? I realize that Brandon Sanderson doesn't usually write anything in his books that would get anyone hot and bothered but COME ON I can't be the only one who wants this

Vin/Elend is definitely one of my ships! Though part of this is going to be an exercise in “let’s see how much Leah remembers”. I really, really need to reread Mistborn. 

Who was the one to propose: Elend? (I don’t remember this, ahhhh.)

Who stressed more over wedding planning: Elend. Vin couldn’t be bothered. 

Who does the cooking: Elend. I can’t imagine Vin is a terribly good cook. 

Who suggested kids first: I don’t imagine either one of them would exactly be jumping to have kids, considering their relationships with their parents…

Who’s the cuddler: Vin. Not that she would admit to it.

Who kills the spiders: Vin. Like that’s even a question.

Who falls asleep first: Elend.  Vin is too restless to sleep a whole lot. 

Who wakes up first: Vin. See above.

Who does the laundry: Elend. We are talking about the guy who wears a white suit.

Eventually you got into the rhythm of attending extravagant parties regularly. Valette- er, you were becoming quite an icon at the balls. He always remarked that ones you couldn’t attend were exceedingly boring in comparison to ones with you. Its not like you really changed it at all much, however. You’d find him lurking on some balcony or in some garden, nose deep into a book and his shirt untucked. You’d sit and talk and make the odd appearance actually in the ballroom with the others.

He greets you like he always does, standing and bowing. You wondered if he was sincere in his actions or making a mockery of the common ritual. You extend your hand towards him and he takes it in his own, raising your hand to his lips, and kissing your fingers. You expected him to let your hand fall to your side as he usually does before you join him in leaning on the balcony railing or the stone bench, but he doesn’t. He straightens up, and pulls your hand along, bringing you closer to him, close enough that his lips feel like the mist on yours.
