Practising washing hands and taking care of personal hygiene has been a norm for us and the children. This is a good practice as it helps us to avoid contracting a variety of diseases. Similarly with vaccines, such as the COVID- 19 vaccine, these also help in preventing vaccine preventable diseases. . Both of my children have completed vaccinations under the National Vaccination Program. They have also gotten their pneumococcal vaccine. . But they have yet to receive their chickenpox or rotavirus vaccine. It has just simply slipped my mind due to my busy schedule as they are not compulsory. . By prioritizing prevention of these diseases parents can help children avoid symptoms like vomiting, diarhea, stomach pains and dehydration caused by Rotavirus and blister like rashes that can cause subsequent bacterial infection, fever, fatigue, loss of appetite cause by Chickenpox. . Don’t follow in my footsteps— Start planning on day 1 so and make appointments with your medical practitioners-- set reminders so you be advised on the best methods of prevention for your kids. . I am here to recommend all the parents out there to plan ahead and seek advice from your doctor early so you know what is the best way to protect your children.
