The 3 Jewish women, didn't they get ejected because they expressed several times at the march that they were Zionists? Which...well, Zionism essentially defends Israel's inhumane treatment of Palestinians, I believe. Still, punitive actions against JOURNALISM and the press is very scary.
It’s difficult to know precisely, but, well, no, it seems pretty evident that’s not what happened. They were asked several times if they were carrying an Israeli flag and every time they replied “No, that’s the Star of David.” Every insistence that it was an Israeli flag came from the Dyke March coordinators who asked them to leave. And while:
Grauer said when Dyke March participants began interrogating her about her views on Israel, she said she was a Zionist who supported both Israeli and Palestinian statehood. She said they responded, “‘No, you can’t believe both ways.’” (x)
Here’s the thing: they still weren’t carrying an Israeli flag or promoting Israeli statehood in any way, per their statements. They were Jewish women marching in Pride, and they repeatedly stated that it was a Jewish symbol on their flag, which it is. They were then directly questioned by strangers about personal beliefs which they weren’t trying to force on anyone or even share (this is super common to the Jewish experience, as I understand it, especially in otherwise liberal circles) and they were explicitly ejected because of the Star of David on the flag they were carrying.
I mean again, it’s tough for me to dive into this because as a white dude I try not to tell anyone what their business is, but I’m also trying to be an ally, and in this case I genuinely feel the voice I need to add mine to is that of the Jewish women who were asked to leave. As far as anyone can tell they had no political agenda beyond being part of Pride and Jewish at the same time. The link at the quote has a more in-depth discussion that will hopefully help to clarify further the issues surrounding the march.
