GUYS, HE GOT ME THE PATCH LOOM FORM MICHALES. IVE MENDED MY FIRST SOCK WITH IT!!! I have been wanting one of these for moths but never spent the $14 on it because I'm indecisive as HELL.

The patch is not perfect but, it's pretty good for a first try. Definitely could have turned out worse!

He also got me like, over $60 worth of yarn because it was on sale. I'm going to make hats and blankets and weave things nobody has ever seen.

Ich hab heute das Toteninsel Hörspiel gehört und nebenbei endlich mal diese Hose gefixt. Die Gürtelschlaufe war eingerissen, aber durch das schlechte Licht und das Motiv bemerkt man das Gestopfte kaum :D

Insgesamt sehr zufrieden, nur meine Finger tun jetzt weh…

Visual mending!

I've been getting into visual mending. Things are expensive, and I like the idea of using some colorful thread to make little repairs over time to my favorite jeans!

When I first started learning to mend, I used a loom I got off amazon, which works wonderfully! I've used it for a few of my cardigans, but it's mainly for embroidery thread, which is nice but mainly thicker material and the hooks are farther apart, so for this i tried to do it freehand!

It was a little trickier going around the edge where most of the damage was, but hopefully it'll hold up!

But my god, so many tiny threads, so many.

Visual mending not as in 'learn these seventeen different sewing and embroidery techniques to make your mending look pretty!' but as in 'I can't be assed to colour match my thread or learn how to do invisible stitches or whatever so everything's getting sewn on with a backstitch in the most obnoxious colour. AND the knots are on the outside.'

I’ve managed to start learning to embroider and mend and sew, things I’ve intended to work on mastering for years. I have some time now and need something productive to keep my spirits up, so I’m starting slow with just some basic darning.

I really enjoy the visual mending projects I’ve seen around, and have some brightly colored thread from my camp counselor days, so I’ve set myself the challenge of mending an EXTREMELY moth eaten old grey sweater/duster, that I’d honestly been keeping for scrap fabric.
