Pls like it, the smooth-ish tears at the end crashed ibis paint twice, so it's actually not completely I took what I could get before the file crashed again (dw it's recoverable and I split up animatic files once I'm done so it doesn't hog space) it was past 3am and I didn't care anymore.
You want context? Chapter 31 of Little Star is the context.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I'm too tired and it's too late to do anything more!
I've had this as a sketch in my sketchbook since basically the start of this au and I'm so happy with how it came out!
No questions about the dress, I made some shit up with no reference I just had a vision lol
This is from chapter 7 of Bitter Peach, it's what Macaque is wearing at the party. He's actually happy for once cause he loves doing shadow performances, he doesn't like being dressed up like a doll, but he gets to perform so he's not complaining!
Here's the chapter!
Warning, this chapter has some very dark undertones regarding Macaque.

Also what Macaque's chest marking looks like since it comes up in the chapter
She was giving seriously dirty looks at his dads, this is the conclusion he jumped too. Then he flipped her off.
This was a very quick and simple drawing as a bit of a break from the bigger art pieces I've been working on lately. This is a doodle compared to what I've been doing lately lol.
This from chapter 33 of Little Star, out now :3

The Ask The Characters Event I'm having is from this point as well :3
Btw Chongxiao is one of Macaque's mothers, Miaoxi is the other one.
Black Swan
Chongxiao stared at the small blanket wrapped cub in her arms. The little girl slept so peacefully, blissfully unaware of what chaos was happening around her, how her birth seemed to confirm that a curse had been placed upon her family line.
She had no idea her mother and twin sister were dead.
She may have had a sense that she was not the mother who gave birth to her, and when she was awake she would cry for her mother's milk. But right now, there was little wrong with the world in the mind of the new born cub.
Everything was so simple for her six eared cub.
Everything was so complicated for her as well.
With Miaoxi dead, their daughter was the queen, she would serve as regent for her as her mother in law did until she was of age to rule on her own.
Then she just had to hope and pray she wouldn't loose her daughter as she lost her wife.
Her cub stirred, her six ears stretching around her head as amber and lavender eyes cracked open.
"Go to sleep, you'll be the center of attention soon enough." She whispered, kissing her daughter on the forehead.
The cub trilled softly and drifted back to sleep.
Parent Trap
She crossed her arms with a huff and turned her nose up at him. He understood her apprehension about this, his daughter was a creature of habit, much like himself, and he did throw this on her unexpectedly. Perhaps if he'd give her a warning she would have been more okay with it…
But he hadn't exactly planned on this happening in the first place… he just needed his daughter out, away from him and the city for a little while.
He didn't need to worry her with such trivial things.
"What if the other kids are all mean and make fun of me? Then I'll be stuck there all summer with people who hate me." Chao-Xing pointed out.
"They won't hate you." He reassured her.
"They're gonna tease me." She muttered.
"They won't. But if they do, tell your councilor." He said.
His daughter glanced down at her two tails, he saw a shimmer of tears in her eyes.
"They're gonna talk about em and say I'm a freak." She whimpered.
"Oh starlight no, no, you're not a freak, no matter what anyone says, okay?" He pulled his little star into hug, careful not to disturb the cat still sleeping in her lap.
"Your auntie has two tails just like you, and you both get it from your nǎi nai, it's nothing to be ashamed of." He cooed softly into her ears.
The petal like ears fluttered and twitched as she tried not to cry. He kissed the topmost right one, eliciting a small giggle from his little girl.
"Is that all you were worried about?" He asked, pulling away from her to wipe her teary eyes.
"I really don't wanna go, Baba." She mumbled.
For a moment, he wanted to cancel the entire thing, keep his baby home with him. But it was only a moment, he just needed to get her someplace safe without letting her know there was something wrong.
"I know, but this will be good for you." He told her.
Her frown deepened at his refusal to change the plan. He cupped her face in his hands, squeezing her little cheeks lightly.
"It's not the end of the world, you'll be perfectly safe there, I know you'll have a great time." He said.
His little girl gave him a small, precious smile. He kissed her forehead.
"C'mon now, let's finish getting you packed." He said.
"Mmm, I can't." Chao-Xing chirped.
"Starlight." He sighed, casting a disappointed look at his daughter.
"Butterscotch is still sleeping." She pointed to the very much still sleeping cat on her lap.
"Alright fine, but once she's up you're helping me pack." He rolled his eyes fondly at her antics.
.
There are your sneak peeks! :3
Their cat is a tortie and she's named after my longest had stuffed animal, Butterscotch the Bunny. I think she's old enough to vote in July.
