I can’t believe I’m writing this, but:

Voltron au where, back at the Garrison Lance and Keith never came into contact. They always had different classes, they somehow always left and entered rooms staggered just enough to never come into contact. They don’t know what the other looks like, but they know each other’s names because Everyone is always comparing them.

It’s the strangest thing. Lance isn’t even in the fighter class, yet every time he gets the top score of the cargo simulators someone is comparing him to Keith motherfucking Kogane. You’d think they’d reserve that treatment for the top 2nd fighter pilot, but nope! It’s always him. Every test score, every combat class, someone always compares him and the worst part? He doesn’t even know who this fucking kid IS! He’s never seen him and if it weren’t for the fact that he could see his name at the top of the fighter class rankings, he would think this was just an elaborate prank that everyone was in on to mess with him!

Keith, on the other hand, is constantly compared to Lance, but not in classes. No, for some reason every botched interaction he has, student or teacher, someone compares him to Lance motherfucking McClain. Apparently, Lance is really good with people. Everyone likes him. Everyone knows his name, even if they’ve never actually spoken to him, because he’s just got this socially magnetic energy to him. And for some reason everyone has it in their head that Keith should be just like him, and they’re all disappointed every time he’s not. Except, not everyone knows him, because for awhile Keith thinks that he’s some weird pop culture reference that he doesn’t understand until one day he catches his name at the top of the Cargo Class rankings. Keith has no idea who this kid is, but he thinks he hates him. When Lance was some fictional character that became an inside joke, he could deal with it, but he’s an actual real person?! Mf’s gotta die.

Basically, all this is to say that when they break out Shiro together there’s no time for introductions until the next day with Shiro and they have a moment where they both angrily point and shout “YOU!”

Thus is born a rivalry, but neither of them is competing for the same thing so they both think they’re constantly failing while the other is winning.

keith: *smiles a little* yeah, i mean, who gives a fuck really?

keith: *takes monstrous bite, immediately getting ketchcup and mustard and pickle juice all over face and fingers up to the soace between my knuckles*

keith: *snorts, grins* yeah, okay i deserve that

lance: *from across the garrison cafeteria* keith kogane i have feelings for you

Voltron: Legendary Defender

guYS! I REALIZED SOMETHING WHEN I WAS RE-WATCHING SEASON 1 EPISODE 1!

I was watching and when Lance, Hunk, and Pidge were getting lectured, I noticed something. Lance looked up, and he was looking at someone behind Iverson. Then the minute 4:29 hit and I recognized someone putting in data for the Garrison.

/Veronica/ was there. The woman with the tablet had the same hair color, same body type, and same skin tone. 

She had to /fail/ her brother in that class.

One thing I have learned from the team that created VLD, is that no detail goes unthought of.

The people at Dreamworks were planning on having Veronica in the show, they even show cased her early.

Bit of an Odd Voltron Confession

So obviously Lance and Keith weren’t neck and neck in pilot ranking at the Garrison because it works like a sports team, right?

The best make varsity (fighter class) and those not good enough for varsity, but still good enough to still make the team get on junior varsity (cargo class).

This would make Lance dead last in fighter class OR the best pilot in cargo class.

BUT the weird thing is I was never a sports kid; I was an orchestra kid.

(This is about to get confusing. I tried to make it as clear as possible sorry!!!)

In an orchestra, the BEST violinist is 1st seat of the First Violins.

Contrary to what you would think, the SECOND best ISN’T 2nd chair of the First Violins.

The SECOND best violinist is 1st chair of the Second Violins.

This would mean that the best pilot (Keith) was first in fighter class, and the second best pilot (Lance) was first in cargo class.

So when I first heard “Lance and Keith: neck and neck” my thought process was that they really WERE rivals and that pilot programs were like an orchestra, not a sports team.

BUT GUYS WAIT.

So like we all know the Garrison is a military and Air Force academy that is full of buttheads, right? We also know that its students stay there in residence, with their own rooms and dining halls and what not. So I guess what I’m saying is this: What if the Garrison never even TOLD the families of Hunk, Pidge, and Lance that they were gone?? Think about it! They aren’t gonna admit that they LOST THREE STUDENTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN AN ALIEN SHIP CRASH LANDED. Their reputation would be out the window! I bet that they would try to cover that whole mess up before any news left the school. But then my next question is raised: what about the other students at the Garrison?? How do they feel about these three students, the gifted engineer, the young protege, and the second best pilot in the whole school going missing? I can almost guarantee that a few of them started sniffing around back on earth to find out what the hell is going on. I guess my point is this: I want an episode that is filled with other students back at the Garrison rising up against Iverson and everyone else to help their three missing classmates on their incredible mission.
