Voltron Lion Girls: Stealth Mode
Pidge slid her headphones off of her ears as the heavy thud of boots crossed the open room of Green’s hangar. Green crouched down next to her with a soft thud, resting her chin on her small paladin’s shoulder. “Oh, hey Green.”
“What are you doing? It feels weird having all those thingies sticking into my lion body.” Green scratched at her wrist slightly, the same wrist where Pidge had piles of tangled wired plugged into on her lion body. The wires cluttered the floor before elegantly flowing into every possible port in Pidge’s laptop. Pidge’s fingers stopped abusing the worn down keys as she looked back at her lion.
“Does it hurt? I was just seeing if I could incorporate the training deck’s invisible walls into your system. It worked for that pod I modified.”
“It just feels a little strange.”
Pidge sighed and let the lion rest on her. “I’m sorry I didn’t ask before. This is just a quick compatibility test. I was going to ask before I installed it.”
“Do what you want. I trust you know what you’re doing.” Pidge bit back a grunt as Green leaned more of her weight on her, making her hunch and allowing the little lion to see the screen. “It’s amazing you can understand all of this.” Green stared in awe at the cluttered pile of windows on Pidge’s screen.
“I mean, it’s your diagnostics. I’m sure you understand it better than I do.” Pidge smiled at the compliment regardless.
Green gave a nervous giggle and drooped her ears slightly. “Actually, I don’t really understand all of this on a technical level…”
Pidge raised an eyebrow. “How do you not understand technology if you are the technology?”
Green whined childishly in response. “I didn’t build myself, you know! Back on Altea I was more fascinated with how organic life functions rather than my own artificial body. I always left that to King Alfor.”
Pidge frowned softly. “You guys really liked him, huh…”
“Even if his memories were preserved in the castle, I do mourn his death. Feeling the life force of your paladin drain away is just...indescribable…” Green curled closer to Pidge and bit back a whimper.
“Hey...it’s okay...” Pidge pulled Green over her leg and into her lap, computer work temporarily discarded to attempt to give some sense of comfort to her. Green hugged back tight, burying her face into Pidge’s collarbone. After a few moments she shifted and settled in a more comfortable position, letting Pidge continue to work as Green listened to the pulse in her paladin’s neck. A purr vibrated the spot on Pidge’s shoulder where Green’s throat was resting as she stretched her arms back out to hit her computer keys again.
After a few more keystrokes she sat up. “Ready to help me test this cloak?” Green nodded in excitement and squirmed out of the smaller girl’s lap, scampering up to her lion form. Pidge sat down at the console and pulled up the new icon on the holographic dashboard. “Initializing cloak…”
Pidge pressed the button, a ticker in hand to gauge the cloak’s limit. She grinned proudly when the hangar security feed showed nothing there, the cloak automatically shutting off after about 30 seconds. “Yes! It worked! This should really come in handy. Thanks for the help Green.” Green purred in delight as she let Pidge back out onto the hangar floor.
Pidge stretched and began to gather her things before she was suddenly yanked to the ground. She yelled and struggled to see her attacker, Green’s bright face being the only thing that stared back. “Green, what the heck you scared me!”
Green gave a childish giggle and let go of her paladin. “Thanks for the cloaking Pidge.” She turned on her heel and bounced out of the room, footsteps not making a single sound as he clunky boots had been completely discarded. There was an uneasy feeling in Pidge’s stomach that this upgrade was more of a double edged sword.
