FINALLY @backstagezine is done!! It's a very special project to me and I'm eternally grateful for being a part of it and getting to pay homage to one of the most important and precious producers in my life, Toota Kasamura!
Yapping and references under cut, but first go check out the zine itself! Everyone's done tremendous work and it's just an amazing collection of pieces filled with so many love for this scene's artists
OH TOOTA THE WOMAN YOU ARE I can barely recall how I even discovered her music, I think it was my regular clicking on random vocaloid thumbnails duty, but the second I heard the first notes of Until Your Night Dawns I knew I stumbled across something special.
So simple but incredibly beautiful, such gentle emotions, such poignant tuning, back then such simplicity and artistry was nothing like anything I've heard so far. Yeah, I was a newbie vocaloid fan back then and new very little about other genres, but there's still something special in her poetry, the very chords and harmonies she uses for the arrangements, it's just divine.
Also, if you haven't heard of her cover of Harumaki's "This Earth, for You", PLEASE search it up on bilibili, her voice is angelic too!!
THE FIRST LADY OF VOCALOID IN MY HEART!! And for the little things I referenced in the piece:
- The vocaloids themselves were a no-brainer, I mean she's THE IAkase producer in my mind; the outfits are all from Made-to-Order MV and Toota herself wears a scarf from her older pfps
- Feathers and paper planes are there from her very first album's cover
- Umbrella is in her surname and on her current pfp, how could I not include them
- The photos on the ground are my favorite songs and their release dates, and the note sheet is Until Your Night Dawns, her most important song to date I think (and she's playing the first chord!!)
- Stella octangula was the symbol for proseka's event where Made-to-Order was commissioned
- And of course, Fukase is holding a lily
Thank you for everything, Mrs. Kasamura, I'll keep supporting you forever
