The first episode of the radio series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy aired on March 8, 1978. The series was created by Doctor Who script editor Douglas Adams. The original concept was for every broadcast to be the world to end in a different way with the series being titled "The Ends of the Earth". However, the series ended up spring boarding off The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that was a concept brought up in the first script. The series and its sequels inspired a book series, a record series, a computer game, a TV series, and a theatrical movie. The original radio cast included Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, Geoffrey McGivern as Ford Prefect, Peter Jones as the Book, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod, Susan Sheridan as Trillian, Stephen Moore as Marvin the Paranoid Android, and Richard Vernon as Slartibartfast. Have you met the mice yet? You seem to be around Earth an awful lot to have not seen a mouse or two.

Or a Vogon? You've seen space, you probably have seen one of them around. Ugly things. Bad poetry. They destroyed the Earth. Made the mice mad.

Mice! Yes, met several. I speak mouse or-the correct term, I squeak mouse. Only a few dialects, mostly house mouse and a bit of northern field.

Ah. Vogons, yes. Nasty creatures, cruel, intelligent in every way but emotionally, and hopelessly stiflingly bureaucratic. Everything I despise wrapped up in one big ugly green thing. Like a walking boogie.

if you really think about it the vogons did 9/11 since the world trade center (1973?) would have been built by the time of the radio broadcast (1978) and the first book (1979)

Was really looking forward to sleeping late today since Hux canceled the morning meeting.

But about 30 minutes before my normal wake up time, a protocol droid entered my room, leaned over my head, and started loudly reciting Vogon poetry in my ear. Scared the hell out of me. I damn near fell off the bed.

When I asked him why in the Emperor's name he felt the need to disturb my sleep with that awful noise, he simply said, "Supreme Leader Hux sends his regards" and walked away.

This one stumped me for a bit. "Form" can mean a lot of things. Eventually, I thought about paper forms... then about the process of filling out forms... then about a scene from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy popped into my head, and here we are. Don't panic, Doodlers! Happy #dontinktwice!
