Doodles of what I think Dream and Nightmare true forms would look like after the apple incident

I explain below with a tad of a ramble teebee ↓↓↓
To explain it I wanna think that when they consumed/absorbed the apples that their Flames were sealed away into the apples kinda like a shelf of sorts or perhaps a sense of something that keeps their flames chained to their vessels aka the body's they were given after creation.
Though say their vessels are destroyed it too destroys that Link keeping them within their vessels, now say they are actually destroyed they will turn to dust like any other monster except unless they're in water or something their Dust will Become a flame and they arise back from the Dust but without a vessel and just like their true beings they were before given vessels that would help them interact with the world around them.
Much like a Phenix if not actually inspired by the idea of how a Phenix works teehee.
Oh also upon technically reviving their thoughts are often scrambled and they will attempt to go to the other because despite everything they still will believe the other to be safe.
Kinda like a primal instinct and also the fact that their magic is most in tune with each other .
Even if they are the opposites of emotions, they can easily recognize each other's Familiar Flames and will seek out the other for protection
To say if they also do go to someone else then also means in this state They recognize the others magic as safe and will too seek Solace in the other instead of possibly Screeching and intensely cackling at the other to back off.
Also upon the thought of "oh but the apples what about the apples?" Think about it, sure the apples were a more physical interpretation of emotions but Dream and Nightmare are the literal *Living* essence of Positive and negative emotions so if you really think about it Sure the apples a much more physical understanding and representation of emotions, But unless Dream and Nightmares flames are Truely snuffed out for good that is then when you snuff out emotions but even then flames can always be reignited, even if sometimes because of certain Variables it's much harder to do it and keep it going, doesn't mean its impossible to do so, you just gotta have the right timing so then the fire can live once again.

Alright so The Generations AU is an Au that goes off the passage of time and Generally poses the story Upon how Nightmare has to experience those he loves pass away with due time and life basically Circling through as it does
Now this is also like a Dadmare kind of Au with NM having a really Close relationship with his gang members (Cross, Killer, Horror, and Dust) or more of less Sons.
Now in the begining of the Au it really seems like a Simple ordinary run of the mill Bad Sanses Found family with a shit ton of Headcannons sorta spewed in there (like Cross is into Photography, Dust does Needle felting, Killer does carvings n stuff these actually play a part so much later too so like duely note this) but as it progresses Nightmare begins to watch his Boys Grow up and make families of their own, and that time they're still absolute menaces to the AUs yeah though it's a little calmer with Nightmare scheduling accordingly cause he doesn't want his boys to miss out on time with a loved one or ones cause some do indefinitely have kids in the far future
Now yk things seem to be going perfectly fine though theres the first Hick up with Cross's relationship really starting to fall appart with Swap. I'm not too sure what happens majorly between this point Appart from Nightmare being Absolutely pissed at Swap and also Nightmare getting to actually Meet Cross's kids for the first time since he and swap were temporarily taking a break from each other after a really heated argument they had about each other's Jobs of their respective teams, usually wasn't a problem but over the topic it was hard scheduling for making sure they were cared for when they had to do their jobs while Cross did indeed have that and could plan ahead, Swap was often Dragged away at the same time or anytime by Ink and Swap suggested that possibly Cross could Retire from the bad Sanses
Anyways so Cross Lives back in the manor for that time being and NM gets time to spend with his Grandchildren
Not much happens again though more time passes and more and more Problems or just inconveniences happen
But then that's when things kinda go for the worse for Nightmare when he finds Cross unresponsive and ultimately dust's due to a heartbroken soul
With Cross being separated from Swap, which due to the arguments getting worse with every time one arose Which had grew more and more constant by the day they had decided that their Marriage is over (oh yeah did I mention they were married? Er well they were), it left Cross very upset and in Abit of a bad headspace. Cross to kinda put it is like a person with a heart on their elbow (that's what it is right? Recently heard about it and really thought wow it kinda fits Cross quite a bit). He didn't do anything to himself but Fell down due to just how bad he felt and upsetting the whole ordeal was, especially because he still loved Swap even if the relationship was over
Noting Cross had the custody of their two kids, Fluke and Cort, Nightmare takes it upon himself to Protect and Raise them and this point Its where Nightmare kinda realizes or more or less remembers that he's inmortal, but his gang isn't. Even so doesn't really deter him from exactly Promising/swearing to himself that he'll take care of these generations

Idk there's actually a lot still in speculation did only Thought up of this Au like 4 days ago but The ideas are brewing frfr
But uh yeah the general thing is Nightmare Watching over the generations of their Children and their children's Children and ECT ect for however long with the reoccurring of the kids wanting to follow in their parents footsteps plus nightmare ofc adopting more Sanses in the long run
Now though THE ANGST oh boy do I got Ideas
So knowing how these kids are basically similar like mini versions of his found family, there's probably been so many times Nightmare has to keep himself from Bursting into tears whenever he sees of of his kids in their childrens faces or just something that one of them did before that seemed to carry on through the kid like Habits or something
Also the General grief Nightmare would have with every Soul he has to watch pass by knowing he'll Never, Never, See them ever again and he'll live with that forever. Eventually he likely mellows out to acceptance but I don't think he'd ever truely recover from losing his boys that actually made him see life as actually something Truly beautiful instead of a Dark pit it had seemed to much like before they cracked through that wall he built around himself because of his Au and experiences before he even had a chance to really live
On a side note Nightmare does actually get some Support that also tag along with him through these things or more or less ends up picking up a few immortals along the way too so Noot gets some comfort but uh yeah that's kinda all I got of now
I don't even have a solid Baseline for this Au yet and I'm already thinking of All the Different times n stuff for it lol
Though it seems more centralized in the time period not too long after Nightmare looses all his Boys and is around the point of Raising a few of their kids and some Fusions he found too of what will be known as the first generation :>
Oh also here's some art cause I do have a bit of a doodle with Noot
I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to keep that jacket (I might change it later) but I do know I'm going to keep the Layers underneath it
Also planning on adding accessories that Nightmare was gifted from his kids, maybe something like a Locket from Cross, A Knife from Killer, yk like something that meant a lot to them and They Gifted Nightmare these things cause it resembled them (especially so to Nightmare even if to anyone else they just seem like normal items)

I don't really know what to do anymore, I've exhausted all options for entertainment -- I cannot bear to ponder anymore. I do not want to talk to the others. I have started mimicking the finger placements of holding a clarinet; just moving through my favourite songs, as if I were practicing (it's cruel that he didn't let me take it with me.) I don't think I could ever forgive myself if I got home and had forgotten how to play.
Wither and decay are actually at first *Very* apprehensive about Sage, I mean first things first Sage now in the most plain as one can put it, owns their souls now via the respective lanterns but later Sage changes and infuses their souls to charms representing each twin with a sun and moon each or maybe a Golden apple and a Black one but Sage doesn't actually know that far of their history and here their souls hardly were able to really take the shape of an apple anyways, Sage only knows them as being very akin to night and day to each other so thus the sun and moon charms.
Though right back to the twins, they don't trust Sage all that much especially after the village betrayed them and pushed the twins over the edge to their demise but also Sage owns their souls and short to put it he's a Stanger to the twins.
Sage doesn't quite make it better for himself till later he and the twins have a more one on one and discover Sage lost his world to famine and plague and in a desperate attempt he learned Necromancy in order to try and save them although it's evident enough the other puppeted souls aren't complete only husks of what we're besides Whisp/papyrus who's a bit more of a fragment of Sages brother but not a complete soul but enough that Whisp is still just there enough to communicate with fellow undead but most importantly his brother
Of course this does cause slight issues at first too but either way at some point later on as Sage gets more comfortable with the twins and the twins more or less come to terms this guy isn't gonna let our souls go, they kinda go on until at some point Sage appoints the twins to each team side respectively.
Decay/Dream gets put in with following Ink, an oddity of an entity that Sage wants to know a bit more about but also to help sustain the twins better since they need more feelings to keep their vessels well even if now they cannot fully die by normal means much like him (unless per say their charms were broken much like how breaking a Necromancers Lantern will be their demise because that is where their soul resides) but they still feel the pains and otherwise of such
But yes Wither also eventually gets stuck with a specific bundle of mortals that Sage picked himself and sent Wither to create a gang out of which Wither absolutely 100% threw a fit over with the general reason being thay Since the apple incident.
He's held a grudge against Mortals to of which was all that Sage appointed him to pick up, although seeing this is just when Sage is more so beginning to slightly mellow out from his more aggressive tendencies he just rolls his eyes and just forces Wither to do so anyways but does make well known if he's to kill them then he's going to stick them to Wither permanently either way if he really wants to fight him about it
Grudgingly Wither relents and huffs and does as Sage tells him to, but absolutely in the "I don't like it but I can't do shit about it anyways" kinda way which makes him mean and a little cruel to his gang at first besides the initial contract dealing as any other nightmare tends to do with you join my gang and you get yadda yadda yadda
The Rotting apple twins (just realizing the abbreviation of that is litterally RAT LMAO) AU functions a lot like a normal every other Utmv though from that point besides well the obvious
Though Decay does get a little left out but Sage is just as protective but seeing he's spending time around Ink, Sage is more so defensive about Swap since Ink kinda does scare Sage to an extent but they're too airheaded to actually want anything from Decay so he's not worried about that
Swap on the otherhand while his interest of Decay is more familiar as a friend Sage does still get a bit defensive but he leaves more passive aggressive messages warning him if you hurt Decay, I myself will personally kill you and eat your soul
Which yk Swap ever concerned about this goes to Error as they are friends in RAT and Error gets involved too
Unfortunately can't quite ask Dream since well he cannot speak and Dream only can really write in Latin never being very bothered to learn English cause he prefers to be quiet anyways or use sign as a way to communicate and if Swap did ask he'd brush it off anyways
That's more or less all for now, not going into the deeper complexities of the twins' relationship with Sage, much less anything of the twins' relationship with most others outside of Sage but a good overall I would think,,
Although if I was to fully ramble about that I'd say heed some of the tags oop

OK So for some context to what paperguitar is, It is an OCxOC pairing of mine between Fluke (a Cross/Swap kid) and Scot (A Killermare kid).
Fluke is the son of Cross and Swap, created with his twin brother Cort after a battle Swap and Cross had, the both having some standards agree upon raising the twins, with Cross occasionally dropping by to Underswap where the boys lived for the first 5 years of their lives.
Fluke and Cort growing up in Underswap did mostly develop their sense of selves, although off the bat Fluke was a shy and timid child, often shying behind Swap or following his dad around with a more inclination to Cross whenever his papa visited since Fluke didn't make very many friends in Underswap as some kids would make fun of him so ofc he was closer to their parents.
Cort, while a little off topic, Was more so the blank opposite of Fluke, being more brash and louder than Fluke was, a lot more confident too and made a lot of friends in Underswap, He was closer to Swap than Cross but even then Cort was supporting of his twin and would usually shoo off any of the bullies that bothered Fluke
although to a degree, Cort was also a little jealous of Fluke as he usually had Swap or Cross's attention, of course though this doesn't play out till a few years later but I'll get to that later :}c
Now more or less speaking, Swap and Cross since the twins were around 3 had started having arguments, usually about their loyalty to each of the sides they were apart of, Cross getting more angrier every time the two fought. With this growing tension between their parents, its when things start to seem like they're falling apart.
More so for Fluke since he spent more of his time with Swap and Cross whenever he could, there were a lot of times where Fluke would peer into a room and witness the two fighting to a point where Cross and Swap just seemed to be arguing over every little thing they could about each other. By no means were they really "together" but
You can imagine that little 5 year old Fluke isn't having the best time seeing his parents get angry with each other.
Though upon the twins 6th birthday, in the dead of night, Cross breaks into Swaps house and more or less tricks the twins to come live with him, later lieing through his teeth that Swap was planning on getting rid of them and that Cross had saved them by taking them to his residental in Nightmares Castle.
Cort doesn't believe this and feels hurt that its even a possiblitity but for Fluke? oh god its devistating cause Fluke looked up to Swap and wanted to be a lot like him when he grew up.
but now learning the one he admired so much possibly wanted nothing to do with him, it was shattering for Fluke and more or less Cross takes advantage of this by offering Fluke to follow in his own footsteps to become a real royal knight to which Fluke absolutely takes and around this point after a couple months of more or less proving himself to Cross, Fluke is Introduced to Scot :}c

Now, Scots a Biological kid between Killer and Nightmare, even if it wasn't for much wanted means, Scot was born to be Nightmares "proper heir" as Crescent failed to fit into that box.
Scot more or less lives strictly under Nightmares guidance, stuck in the manor and not allowed to ever leave much less ever hear of the outside world, the only things Scot can being under Nightmares sayings and or whatever nightmare aproved for Scot to hear. Cresent doesn't follow this Rule and often gets in trouble for it.
Though it doesn't stop Crescent much as he didn't care much about Nightmares disapproval but when Scot was starting to get hurt from Cresent telling him these things, he couldn't quite tell Scot as much but same time he didn't want to leave Scot so far in the dark about the multiverse.
Although when I say Scot was originally a spoiled little brat, I mean like he was spoiled, undoubtedly by Nightmare himself teaching scot to follow in his own hateful footsteps. Of course though Nightmare carefully had curated what Scot could turn out to be, being a lot more controlling over Scot than he had been with Crescent.
To some part of what Scot was taught by Nightmare that he was an inheriting guardian of Negativity, the true gem of nightmares kingdom. Scot was entitled to many things and so long as he sought for it, it would be his.
At some point down the line, Nightmare had also put the idea into Scots head that because he was of nightmares lineage, he had to be careful because people outside these walls didn't understand them like the people here did, that any positive spirit were to ever meet Scot, they would want to kill him by any means without hesitance to further keep Scot under his thumb.
of course this still later backfires on nightmare but thats a later thing.
Now up until Scot was 6, he'd never seen any other kid his age before, so surprise surprise when an odd, timid someone had started following him around.
Of course, actually Scot doesn't realize this till like after 5 months of Fluke tailing him, opening doors and overall doing things for Scot in hopes to get the others attention lol,,
Although at first Scot HATES Flukes guts and even after he tries to shoo Fluke off by being demeaning and rude to scare him off, he storms to his Father and demands and I quote "Father who is this wet dog that insists on following me!!" to which Scot (and a little Fluke)v discover that Fluke is to be Scots assigned personal knight.
Fluke is ecstatic about it although Scot is more like "you've got to be kidding me"
Scot argues with his Father but Nightmare shuts that down quickly like "idgaf there's no argument." And dismisses Scot to whom of which is fuming. So ofc like any rational spoiled 6 year old, Scot gave a lot of responsibilies and made a lot of demands to Fluke in spite of his Father but also fully believing Fluke can't do any of it and sometimes even getting Fluke to do things that could be very well dangerous like going outside (even if that's really just a rule for Scot) and then trying to tattle about it which as you can guess fails miserably.

Of course tired of Scots tantrum Nightmare tries to enforce his say upon Scot with brute force but to Scots surprise, Fluke ends up standing up to Nightmare after witnessing him hit Scot. Scots baffled and confused why Fluke would even do such a thing, much less even dare to stand aginst his Father but it blossoms a small bit of Newfound interest and a little bit of something else that he let's up on Fluke.
Honestly the only reason why Fluke even makes it out alive that day Is because Nightmare was feeling merciful, but found it funny enough that Fluke even thought he could stand a fighting chance against him that he'd more or less let Fluke off with a small scratch.

After that, Scot and Fluke start getting along a bit better as Scot starts to see more of all the little things that Fluke does for him, going as far as to sit with Scot quietly to comfort him after Nightmare had been particularly angry or after witnessing Killer and Nightmare argue themselves cause sure while Killer was emotionless, He still had the smallest shred of what you could hardly call a mother's instinct with Scot so he often snapped at and snidely acted to Nightmare which ended in less than well ways for Killer.
Now while Fluke and Scot get more acquainted, Fluke starts telling Scot about his time in Underswap after he mentions something he learned from his Uncle.
Around this time is when Scot learns that he more or less can dabble in making his own poetry and guitar after Fluke shows Scot a guitar that his papa had given to him but Fluke hadn't really taken to it so he hoped that maybe Scot would like and boy does Scot ever.
It's more or less around when the boys are 8 is when Fluke and Cort have their accident, as mentioned earlier Cort has had Jealousy brewing in him since they were toddlers. On top of this, Cort took more of a following stature to Killer instead of following Cross like his papa wanted him to.
Killer certainly teases Cross about it but really Cross really could care less as Fluke does fine which yeah, for what Cort was trying to do it only increased his festering feelings till one day he accidently ends up blinding Fluke in his left eye after throwing one of his throwing knives at Fluke during one of their scuffles.
For a bit of context for that, Fluke and Cort ever since getting to the manor started to fight each other, first starting off as Cort antagonizing Fluke about really being Scots mutt because of how much he followed the prince, but over time it started escalating into full blown fights between them.
of course neither of them hurt each other besides a heal-able bruise or scrapes that weren't that bad. regardless even if they fought like it, the two didn't actually ever have the intent to actually kill or hurt the other gravely. The fact that Fluke got hit with such attack was because Cort misjudged where Fluke was going to interpret his attack intending to only nick Flukes cheek but instead hit him square in the eye socket.
Safe to say more or less Cort Instantly recoiled, gasping when he had realized that he'd really hurt his brother he instantly stopped and franticly tried to calm Fluke down who was reasonably sobbing, Hearing the commotion, Luckily it was Cross who had came over and instantly taken Fluke to the med bay and dealt with the Injury.
Cort doesn't think he'd get his brothers crying out of his head after that and he apologies profusely,,,
Scot Later realizes he can't find fluke upon to be notified that fluke was injured and in the Med bay probably resting to which Scot goes absolutely running to in worry (and Scot would refuse to admit that he cares/gotten attached for Fluke at this point lmao)
Fluke is a littleee high on painkillers still but he's coherent enough to assure Scot that he's fine (As if he hadn't been sobbing like an hour ago and like he hadnt just been turned half blind) although in his lack of filtering mindset, he accidently ends up telling Scot that Cort had accidently done this which enrages Scot but Fluke ending up clinging onto Scot and asking that Scot stays with him because he doesn't want to be alone and also rather wouldn't want his prince to go hunting down bis brother because they both know it was a genuine accident so reluctantly Scot calms himself for the moment and keeps Fluke company and claims to anyone he's "making sure my knight recovers to the best of his ability" and Fluke does mostly heal up and is lucky that the eyelight wasn't entirely destroyed by the blade but it had done some considerable damage to Flukes eye socket that it rendered the eye far too hazy to truely use saddly.
Safe to say Cort had to avoid Scot for a while before and even then It was clear thay Scot wasn't happy with Cort for a long time and from this point things go on as living does in Nightmares Manor goes and also with Cort about to bash their heads together because he can see the pinning from several aus afar.
Unfortunately that also means as the two get older there's more responsibilities and worse things Nightmare subjects them to which is when the boys are 15 is when the first of their whispers about leaving the manor is shared between them.
At first Scot is appalled that Fluke would even suggest such a thing, especially because everyone out there would be out to get him but Fluke assures him that He'd do anything to make sure that Scot would be safe. So with that the two start their plotting, waiting for until Nightmare leaves the manor to actually execute their plan, Quickly Packing what little they could carry and Fluke Hopping into another AU.
Now this is more or less where they can end up in a multitude of different outcomes from running away from Nightmare, going from Nightmare finding them again and punishing them for even attempting that to a happy ending where they manage to escape from Nightmare and end up meeting Dream.
whom of which didn't even know that he was an uncle and upon discovering the Abuse that Nightmare put Scot though, Dream drops trying to save Nightmare realizing his brother just really isn't there and more so focuses on trying to help Scot the best he can even though Scot is utterly terrified cause of what Nightmare had taught him about positive guardians but they eventually are able to settle down in the following years and Avery (Paperguitar kid) is born and they live pretty happily making friends and living an actually pretty normal life
little extra that I mentioned on discord but I'm rephrasing here, during this wholleee journey Fluke and Scot aren't together, for the record the two never had the best idols for what an ideal relationship looked like with most relationships they'd seen around them were harsh and cruel, something they never wanted to be to each other.
so to them for a long time don't quite say they're together but they certainly don't deny their feelings to each other cause they absolutely act like a couple when people aren't around and even then with how clingy they are to each other and honestly anyone who's even a mile away can tell the two love each other
ask them though and they'd be like "what?? no we're not together" or like one phrasing "you don't kiss your friends" one of them responds "well yeah but Scot/Fluke is my BEST friend" and I honestly am sure everyone around them is face palming though it's probably figured out through some extensive therapy and upon learning what a further than friendship relationships look like, they'd, even if slowly, get that though they're still the bestest of friends who may kiss every so often lol
They're so beloved though hliek anijfdshbvbi they're my beloveds your honor and I'm going to go feral for them PLEASE
