Theres this game I found that has a lot of really neat character designs and I do believe there are very fluid animations in-game..but like It looks and seemingly plays a lot like hollow-knight {from protag movements alone} and there isint a lot of movement in any of the characters

It's sadly really disappointing to an otherwise promising game

But disappointment be damned, look at this thing

Happy Halloween, new void baby unlocked!! Their name is the Simulacrum, they’re the protagonist of a second Hollow Knight called Voidwrought. They just hatched and everything is so mean to them

Big Pro: Theme

Big Con: Difficulty, Gameplay.

Voidwrought… Initially plays exactly like Hollow Knight, with a few major differences. Namely: your focus to heal thing works like Hornet’s bind in silksong. 3HP immediately. Except it doesn’t recover outside of reaching a save spot.

The theme is promising, taking place in a massive burial structure the size of a city. The music is equally promising, haunting the area.

However the majority of my hour spent playing the game was spent on the first boss. To put things in perspective, it’s like a Dream Boss from Hollow Knight, slowly drifting around the arena with a basic attack pattern. After you hit it about twenty times, the head pops off, and it gets a new one from the back wall. Its attack pattern changes, and you need to do that again.

I counted the number of heads in the background. There were twelve. And at this point in the game, you have five health, plus the three you can get from healing (which doesn’t recover), and NO movement options to deal with these attack patterns. I think the highest I ever made it was phase four.

And it’s not like you can backtrack to see if there’s an item that will help you earlier, there’s a save point after a point of no return before this boss.

Reading several bad reviews for the game, it seems like this is a problem that continues through the rest of the game, with bosses consistatnly being ill suited to the upgrades you have at any given point in time. The developer’s response was ‘Yeah that boss is a pain, but I’ve balanced it like 20 times and you’ll find it easy in new game plus’.

I asked for a refund after reading that. I wouldn’t waste my time on this. Just replay Hollow Knight, I guarantee it’s better.
