Self care is appreciating Voltron for what it's for because when you watch it without thinking about ships you actually have a good time :))))))
The most re watchable vld episodes as according to me
(also my favorite episodes of the whole show so far)
Tears of the Balmera and Return to Balmera: I was already enjoying the show but these two episodes are what absolutely sold me. It was a lovely Hunk focused episode showing his devotion to Shay and her people and his newfound calling as a hero. It had some of the most poignant scenes in the whole season at the time
The Depths: I just want to thank whoever came up with space mermaids because you are the real G my good friend. Also, just like the paladin, this episode is focused on its wacky, lovely and SUPER PRETTY
Eye of the Storm: I know space mall is wackier but every time I re watch this episode I am absolutely in stitches. It was nice seeing what the paladins do for fun and the last few minutes were just comedy gold
Blade of Marmora: I KNEW ABOUT THE REVEAL AND MY HEART WAS STILL BEATING OUT MY CHEST. Like damnnnnn. ninja organization!!!, the fight choreography, the dreamscape all while Thace was being tortured by Hagger. This episode was the BEST kind of stressful
The Hunted: The aesthetic of this episode was soooooo goooood. I am pretty sure this is where the crew’s obsession of drawing the paladins in darker lighting started (not that I complaining). It was interesting to see the paladins succumb under pressure with Shiro gone. They are good kids and they got around to it. Overall fantastic epsiode with amazing animation
Hole in the Sky: this ep was WILD y’all. If this show couldn’t get crazier, apparently alternate universes exist in the universe and it is very crux of how voltron was created. Whether you like or don’t like the sentiment that the Alteans could have done horrible things too if opportunity befallen them, it kinda messes your brain a bit. I personally love that kinda stuff. Also Sven
Reunion: I was literally waiting for this reunion foreverrrr. The colors and backgrounds in this episode was eye candy. ALSO HOLY SHIT BEX’S PERFORMANCE THIS EPISODE WOW THEY KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK
Blood Duel: If I didn’t love Lotor before I sure as hell loved him here!!! The first truly ground fight of the show, it was magnificent and felt grandiose. It was angry and yet sad, with Lotor’s absolutely dismal relationship with his father perfectly foiled with the Holts’ relationship with theirs.
Kral Zera: GOD DAMN WHAT AN EPISODE. It gave more an insight into galra culture and showcased some amazing badass fights. THAT ASCENSION TO THRONE BY LOTOR WOWWWW
Monsters and Mana: I would put all the filler episodes here but this episode was purely fun! It was goofy, my personal favorite and a proof if this show could have been a pretty dope fantasy show if it wanted to
The Black Paladins: MAN THE ANIMATION AND MUSIC IN THIS EPISODE WAS INSANEEE. I can confidently say I literally don’t remember any animation episode in recent television that is as gorgeous as this one. I was the dumbass who wasn’t fully convinced he was a clone so yeah that twist also hit me like a freight train. The fight between Shiro’s clone and Keith was absolutely heart wrenching and SO SO GOOD
The Ruins: what a cool horror episode! The way the story unfolded, the jump-scare moments, THE COOL TELEPORTATION FIGHT, THE EERIE BUT COOL MUSIC. ALSO VLD THANK YOU FOR THE DRUID LORE. Hell even the random Seinfeld bi boh bi was perfect
The Journey Within: THIS EPISODE WAS SO SAD and as of now my all time favorite episode!! somehow the crew made one of the most engaging episodes of the whole show with most of the episode lacking anything more than a dark backdrop, one scene change, minimal fight scenes and sometimes even no music. This episode more than anything reminded you at the end of the day they are human kids fighting a war they don’t really fully understand but they do it for each other and the universe. I can gush and gush about this episode
Know Your Enemy: The paladins that meeting their family again! Hunk’s family angst!! the look into the politics of the garrison and of maintaining what is an alien invasion!! All these details grounded the fantastical nature of the plot and made it feel so much more personal. The insight it gave about earth, the paladins and the mood and the heartache of this episode made it my absolute favorite of the earth arc.
I have more favorite episodes but ultimately these are the ones I have rewatched the most. Will probably expand and edit come s8 in December so here to s8!!!
I tag all of you to try this! What do you think are the most rewatchable vld episodes? (the list does not have to be this long lol)
Decided to draw a smiling little Lotor!
One of my interpretations for The Journey Within and the character dynamics are that the characters cracked and got pretty deep with each other's issues definitely for being in deep space without food or water and loosing your mind (the obvious reason) but ALSO I think it was because they might have had issues build up for a while but there was no way to skirt around it. They couldn't just be amicable and understanding and then go back to their respective rooms. They blew up at each other, had to deal with it and they had to answer the hard questions. For the majority of the show thats what the characters have been doing (ie. The lance and keith talk back in s3, shiro's clone yelling at lance, etc) and to an extent, if not fully, we got an answer to how bad they have been at confronting the hard truths of their respective relationships by forcing the paladins to finally talk to each other. Pretty solid bonding exercise if you ask me
As vld is coming to a close I just want to say how genuinely impressed I am at how respectful and kind most of the vld cast and crew have been to each other, to their colleagues in their industry and to the fandom to the best of their ability throughout the whole time they have been employed for the property
People I don’t think realize how rare it is to have show-runners 100% support you, and to have va’s and crew have fun with you and try their absolute best to meet and support every single one they meet at conventions
Show-runners’ reaction to the s7 backlash was incredibly honest and humbling, GOOD ON THEM
All in all it was inspiring to see their work ethic and professionalism
I would just like to take a moment and show some love for Lotor! I'm so excited to see what he kind of a role he's going to play in season 3! Because based on what I've seen so far, I have a strong feeling he's going to be a damn good character!
@bext-k my art kinda sucks but I thought I'd draw fav Paladin in my favorite Audrey Jenson outfit (still haven't colored it yet)! 💚💚💚 Also just wanted to let you know that you freaking rock! ☺️
