SASUKE IS LIKE: LET'S WRAP UP ALL BATTLES TO DATE AND THE THING RESULTS IN THEM RECONCILING. THIS IS MAKING ME FEEL STUFF.

LOOK HOW NARUTO IS SMILING.

THE LOOK OF PAIN. They just could reconcile their fighting and their rivalry. And now Sasuke leaves.

So what remains... Is their connection...

ALSO SEEING NARUTO WITHOUT SASUKE JUST FEELS KIND OF WRONG!? LIKE, one part is missing.

I swear, I seldomly saw Sasuke in so much pain.

Yeah, this was the moment Sasuke realized he couldn't kill Naruto, the rest of the show is just him messing around.

SO THEY HAVE THEIR FIRST RASENGAN VS. CHIDORI CLASH AND NARUTO THINKS THIS:

And then. He emerges from the water LIKE THIS:

LOOK AT HIS FACE.

ALL THE MIXED EMOTIONS. LIKE: OH WELL, I AM REALLY HIS CLOSEST FRIEND. BUT SHIT, HE WANTS TO GIVE HIMSELF TO OROCHIMARU CAUSE HE IS CONSUMED BY REVENGE, OMG.

AND THEN OF COURSE THE REALIZATION: SASUKE WOULD KILL ME.

I have no words for this, the heartbreak in Naruto's eyes. I love Sasuke, but honestly... breaking his soulmate's heart for stupid revenge, bro. And Naruto's love is just so pure and unconditional...

The amount of empathy Naruto has to see through his darkness..

Now the declaration... LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.

AND THEN THIS - THE LEVEL OF Year-long longing.

As a side note: This situation is of course toxic, as some people would say. I would have to add here that the world made Sasuke like this. Even more than Naruto. And Naruto has such an otherworldly level of empathy to see that and change people.

Not the conflict is the problem here, the state of the corrupt shinobi world is. All this mess would have been solved in stable and loving environments. They would just have deeply fallen in love at first sight and that's it...

about vote1: smth I've wanted to talk about for a while now is how insecure naruto is in regards to how sasuke views him. we know that naruto was vying for sasuke's acknowledgement from the very start. naruto also saw how sasuke was willing to die for him at the low, but when naruto asked him why, sasuke didn't really give naruto an answer beyond 'idk' and 'I used to hate you'. so naruto assumes, as the story progresses, that they are... friends. but he doesn't know for sure how sasuke feels. as much as sasuke asks 'why', naruto does as well given his past. they are both characters that want verbal reassurance.

at the start of vote1 naruto asks sasuke 'why' after thinking about all the time they spent together. naruto looks so vulnerable. and sasuke looks affected too, surprised. 

but then naruto follows up with a 'what's wrong with you?' instead of actually asking the real reason behind his 'why', as in: 'I thought we were friends so why?' and sasuke's demeanour changes too. the panel also focuses on the side of his face affected by orochimaru's mark. it was the 'wrong' thing to ask.

sasuke then says he's done with konoha done with naruto but instead of talking about their bond specifically, naruto goes on about how shikamaru, how chouji, how kiba, how neji, how lee, risked their lives to save him. but naruto doesn't include himself in that list of people. testing the waters maybe...

naruto then thinks about how others in konoha are willing to go after sasuke even though they don't particularly like him, but we all know that this isn't the case for naruto. he loves sasuke and is going after him because he cares about him and his safety. and naruto asks sasuke this:

do I mean nothing to you?

naruto's afraid to talk about his real feelings (maybe he's scared of the answer). and as the course of the fight progresses both of them begin to open up. naruto ends up questioning his relevance in sasuke's life. but when naruto does ask 'the real why', when he's finally being honest, sasuke is also honest in turn.

but naruto can't reconcile his own insecurities and the events that are unfolding between his very eyes. he keeps asking questions but this time sasuke won't say anything further and naruto decides to test it out himself.

and then..........

so what's the truth?

but when sasuke's fist is through naruto's chest all naruto thinks about is that maybe everything was just wishful thinking on his part. naruto still questions his standing in sasuke's life, and naruto thinks about how it must've been only him who thought they were friends... but that would make him so stupid :( but at the end, even if it was just wishful thinking on his part, he just doesn't want orochimaru to get his hands on sasuke. because naruto is worried about sasuke.

but at the end things become clearer.

and then naruto wakes up. and ends up deciding to be a fool all his life for sasuke.
