Objectively, ok, maybe vultures are ugly. But when I see a vulture with warts and wrinkles or a long and lanky neck or extra flaps of limp skin or even covered in blood and shit, I see myself.

And I think I'm pretty, maybe even beautiful.

Being a vulture helped me see that.

Why does nobody ever talk about the pain of wanted to be seen as equal to human beings, but being too animalistic to never be truly human. As someone who was dehumanized a lot as a kid due to my neurodivergence, I’m still so desperate for that human validation. I’m never going to be human enough to experience that. I’m forever stuck between the boundaries of human and nonhuman. I’m something else.

overprotective of water balloons (my children)

eating an uncrustable (pb+j sandwich) like it's a small mammal (the jelly is blood)

wanting to dust bathe

ripping into chicken wings like i have a beak

hating wasting food + stealing unwanted food from others
