36 "Does he know about the baby?" For the ask game please
Hello my dear :) Lets do some pining Eddie while Buck is still with a certain person, shall we? Hehe
The question has been burning in the back of Eddie's mind for a while now. Almost six months he's been wondering. Buck hasn't brought it up though. Of course he doesn't. He barely talks to Eddie about his relationship, despite it being new and different. Eddie tries to not think too hard on why Buck doesn't talk to him about it. He hears Buck telling Hen about it - the dates and new experiences. Hears about the way Buck laughs off the way he's treated, even if it grates against Eddie's skin uncomfortably. Buck should be treated like the precious thing that he is. Not like he's a speck of dirt on your shoe. But maybe Eddie is biased. He's probably biased. Oh well. "So," Eddie takes a sip of his beer, staring at the screen where a movie is playing. He has no idea what it is. Buck selected it. Eddie has been thinking about the question on the tip of his tongue. It's bursting out of him tonight. "Does he know about the baby?" Buck freezes next to him, pizza halfway to his mouth. His eyes go wide, slightly confused. Eddie keeps staring at the TV. "Baby?" "Yeah." His chest is tight. "The one you helped deliver on that ugly ass couch." "That couch was ugly, wasn't it." Buck frowns, pizza back on his plate, forgotten, "My mother has horrible taste." He's deflecting. Avoiding. Eddie waits. "You mean Tommy." Buck finally says, practically whispering his boyfriend's name. He never says it around Eddie. Insisted that Eddie stay friends with Tommy, that it was all misplaced jealousy, but Eddie can't be friends with Tommy. Not when he has what Eddie wants. "Yup." "Uhm," Buck is picking at his pizza on his plate now, "No. He...he doesn't." "Why not?" Eddie knows Buck isn't ashamed of it. There's conflicting feelings sure - Buck was not meant to have a child and then never be in its life - but he's not hiding it. Plus, he'd been with Tommy for about six months now. Is this not something that would have been shared? Buck shifts in his seat, "He...he doesn't want kids." Eddie's head snaps over to look at Buck, "What?" "It's fine," Buck shrugs; he's the one not looking now, avoiding Eddie's stunned gaze. "I mean, I g-get it. He's older. And we're...it's a bit late for us, isn't it?" He laughs nervously, "Plus, it's o-only been six months." "Buck." Eddie can't stay quiet. He just can't. "You were meant to be a dad. You are a dad." "I'm not in that baby's life, Eds." Buck sighs, "I'm not a dad." "What? No," Eddie shakes his head, "Not the baby. I mean Chris. You're Christopher's other dad. And if Tommy doesn't want children, then I don't know if you should be with him, because you are a dad and him depriving you of that for some stupid, pathetic excuses is bullshit." Eddie snaps out the last words, standing and snatching up the empty pizza boxes before stalking into the kitchen. Well. Now he doesn't need to wonder about the question. Instead he needs to wonder if he just completely fucked things up between himself and Buck.
