3. favorite POV (first/second/third/etc)

Um, I think this depends on the context. Personally I don’t love first person, even for original fiction (which is pretty much the only setting in which I think it works) … I do enjoy second person more than most people think is acceptable, but it only works for certain characters. And when it does work I am very partial to it. But probably overall, third person limited (with lazy exceptions) is probably both my default and favourite.

(I do feel like I’m cheating on second person by saying that. So maybe secretly that is my favourite. I don’t know.)

9. a passage from a WIP

Warehouse fic, set after "Instinct":

This is not how it’s supposed to be. The parking lot to the diner is poorly lit and the sign above them is broken, flickering on and off. The streets are deserted. It’s a short breath of a town, the kind of main street that ends before you’ve even realised it started. And the diner isn’t even open, but it’s where they met.

It was meant to be coffee, as promised, but they got there only soon enough for takeaway cups. And it was, just coffee, until Helena’s hands curled around hers which were vainly searching for warmth through the Styrofoam.

The SUV is hard against her back, her heel finds the foot step beneath the door for purchase and she presses down into it and up into Helena and it’s so very wonderful that she almost doesn’t say anything.

“Helena.” She breathes it quietly, and what she means to say is ‘not like this’ because it’s so much less than what she wants but it doesn’t come out, she just moans, and she takes what she’s given.
