Hey, I wanted to tell you I really appreciate the connection that you made between what Michael was doing to Maria and what Max was doing to Jenna. It made me think about how shitty Max was for doing that to her and somehow that made me feel more understanding (plot wise) towards what Michael was doing to Maria. Because before that I hadn't seen that connection.
it’s not a perfect direct comparison, because there are some differences, but i think... if you take jenna and maria’s motivations out of the equation and just directly compare michael and max’s motivations, it’s feels pretty similar
but i do think also... maria and michael were both drunk and high and using one another a little, i think, so i’m hesitant to put too much blame on michael solely - i think it was more mutually beneficial for them, ultimately, in that moment
(whereas jenna genuinely had feelings for max and knew that max was in love with someone else, so it feels a lot colder on max’s part than it does michael’s imo)
although i think michael clearly pursued and initiated the situation and then tried to do so again immediately after alex left him (again), so it certainly feels... maybe calculated is the wrong word, but a little more thought through than maybe maria’s actions were? he certainly held a lot more pertinent, alex-related information than she did lmao
but yeah... i think it’s a bit of a grey area to talk about. and i think it’s left maria in a shitty situation that was not of her own making, because of both alex’s response and michael potentially and reactively trying to start things up again. maria presumably still doesn’t have the full picture of how on/off michael and alex’s relationship is, or the fact that michael made his way to see maria after being left by alex again.
i’m not trying to demonise either alex or michael (or maria), i think they’re all acting in very human (and very cw dramatic) ways and it’s great drama lmao
it’s just... messy. it’s messy. and probably could have been avoided entirely by michael not deciding to pursue the connection he was feeling with his ex’s best friend lmao. he’s so dumb.
