Penny Dreadful

Thats right we’re not just going to talk about movies here but all the media thats fit to watch while totally and completely fucked up. Ok. On to new business.

I missed the spooky season by a minute with this one so my apologies but better late than never. If you’ve never seen or heard of Penny Dreadful I wouldnt be surprised (if you have seen it you’re probably offended by that and I am sorry). It flew a bit under the radar despite being an absolutely incredible show. So why did I pick this particular devil to pair with a dab? 

For starters Eva Green, the main character, is stoned 90% of the show. Ok that may not be true but the girl rolls a neat joint. What I’m saying is, she’s one of us. Plus some demons and shit. So, you know, solidarity. But an even more compelling reason to dive through a thick cloud of OG Kush into this elegantly twisted gothic horror fest is the uncomfortably warm depths it’ll take you to.

There are several things that I particularly enjoyed about Penny Dreadful after a few bowls of Gorilla Glue. The show is, in every way, haunting. Like really deeply haunting. The set design, the fashion, the cold stares. Every character is literally haunted, the crew, writers, probably craft services I think to this day are all actually being haunted. All that amounts to an experience that almost lulls you into a stupor while these horrific, beastial, erotic, disgusting, uncomfortable, and moist events unfold before you. So A+ Snuggle Points there. Just sink into that papasan and let penny do the driving.

Reason 2: Shits scary as fuck! Let me just say that I am not a big horror person. I get way too freaked out. There are some styles I can deal with but I am, just in general but also specifically with this, a picky asshole. Penny Dreadful had some insane gore and brutality but the show is so damn pretty and fucked up that you’re just in it. You dont know when it happened but you’re totally in it and you dont care where it takes you. You trust it now. You both shared some pretty crazy shit in that first season and there is a bond.

Anyways. Major snuggie points on this one. Cuddle up with some comfy snacks. Maybe a cat if you have one. To cuddle with, not eat.
