what happened to makos parents

They were builders working on the new Royal Courthouse. The main hall collapsed during construction and killed many workers, including Mako’s parents. Their deaths were mostly due to the unsafe conditions that caused the collapse + no emergency plan put in place by the court to evacuate workers so. You can understand why this lead to an attempted coup

Mako’s folks! they were contractors employed by the royal court to build a chamber for summits and law-making; they died when said chamber collapsed on them part way through its construction, killing many other workers in the process.
