In the series Caffrey is a technical expert in just about a million things.

Paper and ink documents? Painting, in any medium? Miniature painting? Sculpture of multiple types? Glassware forgery? Alcohol forgery? Art restoration? Non destructive encasement and removal of smuggled items? Safe cracking? Gem forgery? Multiple langues? Etc. etc. etc

The point is, while there is some crossover between his areas of expertise, many of them are fully independent areas of study in their own right.

So, to become expert in so many things, Neal would have had to spend a lot of time dedicated to learning them.

My headcanon is that when he was younger, he spend a good 4-6 years just working on stuff for 16+ hours a day. And then after that learnt some stuff a bit slower.

They say you need to spent 10,000 hours doing something to become an expert, that's just under 2 years of 16 hours a day. So a few years intensive study to become expert in a few things, and then a few more years more slowly becoming an expert in others, while also keeping up with his homework.

Bet he has friends in all different countries he regularly calls to keep up to speed with the languages he speaks. Bet he learned a new skill while in prison too.

The show just never mentions how much work actually goes into becoming the font of theoretical and practical knowledge that Neal is. And honestly, Neal is the type to have been a recluse for a few years and never bring it up again.

i did a lot of research into runningnose specifically for that video i'm working on but i found something interesting that i thought i'd share since it doesn't fit very well into the video lol

i'm like... 75% sure that runningnose reacts to yellowfang's death two separate times-

for context, at the end of rising storm, runningnose runs ahead of shadowclan to let the other clans know at the gathering that they're not sick anymore and fireheart takes the opportunity to pull him aside and let him know that yellowfang had died

the next book (which i checked, is in fact written by a different author) fireheart announces her death at the gathering to everyone else and runningnose is mentioned to be "sitting erect and upward, his eyes clouded with sorrow" which wouldn't be an odd descriptor, except he was described looking COMPLETELY different earlier in the book.

tigerstar announces the deaths of nightstar and cinderfur and fireheart looks over and sees runningnose "sitting with his head bowed" and that "he could not see his face, but his hunched posture suggested he was lost in misery"

now compare to his reaction to fireheart announcing yellowfang's death- that is a completely different reaction.

he was already aware all three of these characters were dead, so why is he described so differently?

i think it's subtle, but i think runningnose was accidentally written to react to her death twice lol

could i be wrong? absolutely, this is the tiniest of tiny mistakes in warrior cats and it doesn't really matter either way, it's a single line of dialogue but i thought it was interesting regardless!

wait. the parallels between leafpool getting surrounded by happy starclan warriors after discovering the moonpool, and then getting surrounded by angry, judging starclan warriors after her death. they only want her when she does good for them.

I want the typical, completely normal POV young character who’s only goal is to do the best that they can for their Clan

I want a character that has fleshed-out relationships with several others

I want a character who has friends

I want a character to get into more and more fights with their friends

I want a character to become more isolated

I want a character to embrace the anger they feel

I want a character that’s tired of doing their best when everything is always falling apart around them

I want a character that’s tired of apologizing when everyone gets so easily angry with them

I want to read the moment their friends go “oh” and realize that something is Terribly Wrong

I want a character to do something horrible

I want a character to realize that they don’t feel bad about it at all

I want a character that will decide to do something horrible again

I want a character to embrace the darkness

I want readers to realize that the character they believed to be the good guy might just end up the villain

Colors I strongly associate with specific wc characters, in no particular order

And by that I mean these could make for good sparklecat/unrealistic designs

Bluestar - Blue (obvious)

Firestar - orange (also obvious)

Tigerstar - ochre/gold (ochre bc I also associate him with brown but not as much, and gold because it's associated with royalty and I think that suits tiger)

Leafpool - green (bc.. Leaf)

Brokenstar - red (obvious..?)

Moonflower - purple/silver/lilac (silver because moon and the others because flower)

Stormtail - dark blue (obvious probably)

Palebird - baby pink and baby blue (pink because I imagine her fur is thin enough to show patches of skin, giving her a pink appearance. Also she just feels like a very pastel cat)

Cinderpelt (the medicine cat) - aside from grey, really dark red and eggplant purple (red because of her finnish name which has Berry in it. Grey is obvious and eggplant purple because I mildly associate her with blue too so it sort of.. Influences?)

Moth flight - aside from white, light pink and mint green (because of what the finnish book cover for moth flight's vision looks like)

Leafstar - olive green but also maple suryp colors (Obvious..??)

Bubbling stream - iridescence (because of the name)

Shellheart - dark murky greys with a bit of white pearlescence (also because of the name)

Oakheart - cinnamon (Yeah)

Bluestar was an excellent leader (well. In her prime) and her and Yellowfang should kiss. Bluestar IS bisexual. LISTEN to me.

This is more of a take on the books but I want to see more cultural differences between the clans PLEASE. they are literally just recoloured copy/pastes of eachother. Also!!!! More roles within the clans!!!! The only 4 jobs are leaders, deputies, warriors and medicine cats (and leaders and deputies are just warriors+ really). ALSO clans should have multiple Medicine Cats. Thunderclan had 3 for a while and that was GOOD.

Thunderclan is pretty much run by the same family. The leader was Firestars apprentice and Firestars daughters mate(?). The medicine den is run by his daughter and grandsons. :/

Hawkfrost should have been more interesting. He had so much POTENTIAL but no. He HAD to have been another tigerclone 🙄😒 Also he and Mothwing are both gay. Mothwing is a lesbian and she IS in love with Leafpool.

PLEASE MAKE NAMES MORE UNIQUE IM SO TIRED like.... Please just give them cool suffixes. I'm sick of hearing -fur and -pelt and -claw. Please.

I'm glad Ashfur died and I'm glad Hollyleaf did that (even though she was having a breakdown when she did it) PLEASE appreciate Hollyleaf more. Shes my favourite aro lesbian.

PLEASE PLEASE GIVE THE CATS PERSONALITY EVEN THE BACKGROUND ONES. make them have lives. Make them 3d PLEASE. Same goes for the main characters actually.
