Big Week Coming For Dans, Fans Share
After playing seven games over nine days away from home, the Danville Dans will return to historic Danville Stadium for five contests in a row. And there are lots of special events for fans during the last week of June.
The week starts out with the popular Two-Buck Tuesday. The Dans will start a two-game set against Quincy. Fans can purchase tickets and select hot dogs, sodas and beer for just $2. Participants in WDAN’s Sports Media Camp will be guest PA announcers, and will be broadcasting the game online on at vermilioncountyfirst.com.
Wednesday night’s game will honor Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This group organizes volunteers to provide the Dans with a meal prior to each home game. FCA also hosts a weekly chapel and Bible study for team members that want to participate.
In addition, all student-athletes with ID will get in Wednesday’s game for just $2. And Wednesdays are Triple Play Day, when fans pay $9 for their ticket and any two concessions: hot dog, soda or beer.
The Hannibal Cavemen come to town for two games on Thursday and Friday, with the Danville Area Community College (DACC) and WDAN (VermilionCountyFirst.com) Sports Media Camp announcers back on Thursday. Friday night is a Meijer Friday, when fan can show a Meijer receipt and purchase two tickets for the price of one.
Friday is also Illini Friday. The Fighting Illini Street Team will be at the Stadium starting at 5:00 pm to hand out posters, schedule cards, magnets and more. They’ll also have Illini prizes to award throughout the game. Everyone wearing orange will get in for just $3.
The week wraps up with the Quincy Gems back in town on Saturday. It’s the Dans annual Military and Veterans Appreciation Night, sponsored by AFGE union at the VA Illiana Health Care Center. The American Legion Riders motorcycle group are scheduled to present the colors prior to the game. All veterans or military personnel with ID will get in free.
Following the game, fans will enjoy one of the first fireworks displays of the July 4th holiday – brought to you by AFGE.
Regular tickets for games are $6, and can be purchased at the gate. When available, premium seats on the Back Stop Patio are $10. And a Dans ticket book can be purchased online for $100, and includes 30 tickets that can be used at any regular season home game.
