Where do I belong Chapter 4
Marinette ran, as fast as she could.
Barreling past her friends and out the door, she hits the door frame with her shoulder and stumbles for a second but she doesn’t stop.
She can’t stop, she can’t risk it.
Marinette had never been akumatized, she was one of the few who hadn’t. With how she’d been feeling lately… There was no telling what would happen.
Marinette ran, buildings flying past her. She was wheezing, she couldn’t breathe, her vision was getting fuzzy around the edges.
She could hear the beat of a butterfly’s wings right behind her.
She couldn’t stop.
She refused to stop.
Blood was rushing in her ears, all she could hear was her own heart beat. It matched the beat of the butterfly’s wings.
Marinette fell, her hands scraping against the pavement, and tears springing to her eyes.
She doesn’t even get the time to process the pain before she hears him.
Hawkmoth.
His voice croons in her ears, echoing within the confines of her mind. She can’t understand what he’s saying.
Nothing is making any sense.
It seems feels like his words are slurring together. The words themselves don’t make any sense, but she can feel his intent
He wants to control her, he’s been waiting for it, for a long time.
He wants to use her to hurt people. Lots of people. Herself included.
She doesn’t want to.
It hurts. That’s all she’s certain of is that it hurts.
He doesn’t like that she doesn’t want to. He makes it hurt even more because of it.
It feels like claws are digging into her body, nails raking down her back, ripping out her hair.
There are needles under her skin, fire in her veins. Her own heart beat is painful to feel. With every beat comes a pulse of unbearable pain.
She wants it to stop, she wants to let go.
But she can’t. He’ll hurt everyone if she lets go.
She has to wait.
She’s strong, it’ll be okay.
Her tears feel like fire.
She might be screaming, she’s not sure.
She feels like she’s dying.
All of a sudden, it gets worse. It feels like her eyes are melting, her head is splitting apart and she can’t hold it together.
She’s sure she’s screaming now, she has to be, there’s no way she isn’t
With a final burst of pain, everything goes quiet.
It doesn’t hurt anymore, the pain is gone.
So is the noise.
His voice is gone, its quiet.
She feels weightless, its nice, like she’s floating.
She is floating, she notices as she looks down at the ground. She’s high above it, drifting in mid-air. It’s nice. Nothing can touch her up here.
Nothing can hurt her.
She pauses.
Hurt her? Why would she think that? Was she hurt? Was she hurt before she was floating?
She hums, well, it’s not like it matters now, she’s okay now. Nothing hurts so it doesn’t matter.
She can’t feel him anymore. She’s not sure who he is, but she knows she doesn’t like him.
She doesn’t know why she doesn’t like him either.
She doesn’t know much of anything. She feels like something important happened, but she’s not sure what.
She feels like she’s forgetting something, but she can’t remember what.
She can’t remember anything.
