What a beautiful gem of a novel!

27th of January 2018 Favorite books of 2017 (4) A book that took me by total suprise, We Are Okay by Nina LaCour.  I love this book. I could recognize myself in the way Marin feels, very well. Nina LaCour did a very good job transferring depressive feelings into words, which is incredibly hard. Something I am not be able to do (yet).  What can I say more? Here is a description of the book if you are interested: Marin hasn’t spoken to anyone from her old life since the day she left everything behind. No one knows the truth about those final weeks. Not even her best friend, Mabel. But even thousands of miles away from the California coast, at college in New York, Marin still feels the pull of the life and tragedy she’s tried to outrun. Now, months later, alone in an emptied dorm for winter break, Marin waits. Mabel is coming to visit, and Marin will be forced to face everything that’s been left unsaid and finally confront the loneliness that has made a home in her heart.

the Nice one

There's always a time when my mind wants to tell my mouth to expressed my feeling, said what I wanna say. But then, I chose not to.

because my Super Ego, she tells me not to hurt other peoples feelings, because she said, you are not them, what’s the point? the more you hurt them, they will hurt you back, they don’t care about you or your feelings, they just care about the comfort you gave them. So, when you stop giving them, they will My dear oh they will, react. 

Sometimes, choosing your happiness means you give everything you’ve got for them, they will ask for more, they will. But you have to know, what you did for them, it’s really not for them, but for you. You are the nice one, you are the good one. is is a bad thing to be good? I guess not. So you have to understand that You are enough for you.

All that cracks in your heart that you’re trying to keep it together, you try so hard to hold on. Trust me, you can, you can make it on your own. Because you are good and be good to your self, don’t let it to crack and fall down.

Let say, if you don’t wanna be the nice one, you want to say what ever is in your heart, you want expressed it all. Will they listen? if you are 100% sure, say it. If you don’t? and for what? for you temporary happiness cause you've said it all? and if they still won't change? and then what? you'll get to the point where you feel tired all over again.

So let them be, you are better than them, you are enough for you, you are you, the nice one.
