Developing an Internet-Based Company
How does one use the world wide web to promote their business?
Yes, I realize that this is a very old computer and the internet no longer looks like this. But, it did bring a sense of nostalgia. Regardless, the internet plays a huge role in regards to promoting a business. Many have immediate access to the internet. The number of internet users is on the rise everyday. The content (or maybe lack of content) that is put out there has the ability to bring in great revenue for a company. Here, we will discuss ways that small business owners are promoting their website and making a name for themselves on the vast web.
Social media
No surprise here. This is perhaps the most common way that businesses get their message out there. However, many businesses limit their social media platforms. The key to social media that many businesses need to here is this: EXPANSION. They might have a Facebook, but fail to see the importance of a Twitter. This is where the issue occurs. Failing to establish a presence on a variety of sites closes a fan base, creating missed opportunities for potential customers. Milleneals may be more likely to connect with a business over Twitter and Instagram, while the older folk might use Facebook to keep up with their favorite brands. Utilizing Pinterest, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr, YouTube, and more will ensure that you are making the most out of your social media presence. Creating this is free of cost, so why don’t more businesses expand? All that it takes is time, effort, and consistency. While it may seem overwhelming, the reward will be worth it in the end. Social media sites also create an easy way of communication between the customer and business, helping establish a business’ credibility. Make sure to check out my next blog post. We will be comparing the pros and cons of different social media sites!
Email Subscription Boxes
I used to be wary of giving my email address to companies. I hated the idea of getting a billion emails a day from them full of useless information. However, this could not be further from the truth. I noticed that once I did this for various websites, I received exclusive deals and was able to stay up to date on products being offered. From the business owner’s side, integrating email services into a site is pretty important. Providing a subscription box where customers enter their email address will ensure that they are kept engaged with the company. The customer is aware of any sales, the addition of new products, and other news. Putting this subscription box on the main site as well as showing it whenever customers make a purchase will make it easy to access and sign up. Both the user and the business owner profit with email marketing, building a relationship one email at a time.
Blogging
Shoutout to Tumblr! Utilizing blogging is another important way of marketing a business. Whether it be on a blogging website such as Tumblr, or on a company’s site itself, blogging can make visitors come back for more. Posting content relevant to the business market, such as the latest trends or issues, will keep customers as well as potential customers in the loop. Some websites also welcome guest writers on their blogs. I would definitely take advantage of this, as it is a great way to expand your market. This opens up a great opportunity to provide links to your website as well as your other social media sites.
Easy Navigation Websites
Ok, it has already been established that website+business=good. That is what this whole blog is about. However, just because a business has a website does not mean that they are necessary promoting their product. I believe it is vital to provide some background info about your company, such as including an “About Us” tab. It doesn’t have to be a sob story, but it should make people relate to your business. E-commerce and how the product is being sold also matters. Creating a website that is free of any difficulty regarding purchasing a product, or utilizing a service is very important. If a customer experiences any difficulty, they will have no problem leaving the site for good. I would ensure that the process or buying runs smoothly and checkout does not pose any problems, such as unexpected fees or denial of various payment methods.
