Sitting here thinking about weedgate… I can’t believe they lost ticket sales because of WEED. Like what was the early 2010s. And the fact that Liam was the one to apologize and wasn’t even in the video. The fact that Louis filmed it in the first place. I was a freshman in college during this and was def lighting up at this time as well 😂😂.

Listening to High in California and thinking about how massive the weed scandal was during One Direction. I can't even imagine how punished they were for it, all the repercussions were so bad at the time. They were held back from every direction, their images heavily controlled. And look at him writing about smoking weed now!! Amazing, proud of him

You know, when I read about the Cleanliness Clause, my first thought was actually Weedgate. We’ve been speculating since 2014 that they filmed and released it in an attempt to trigger an image clause and either free the band completely or at least have room to renegotiate their images. That to me really confirmed their intentions. That whole video would be covered in any kind of Cleanliness Clause for any artist, regardless of sexuality. Just like babygate. Knowing that they were being blackmailed with their careers with that clause actually puts a lot of post-Weedgate late 2014 stuff in perspective for me.

Ngl as a black fan it's disheartening seeing how fandom erased the fact that Louis said the n word in the chicken in chile video... I understand people want to relive zouis moments but acting like there wasn't a very problematic part of that video does a disservice to us.

I'm sorry!! the fandom space can be insensitive it shouldn't make you feel that way but YES YES it can be very dismissive to ignore that part coz I still remember it vividly and the whole conversation around it actually there was no conversation but there is no excuse for that fuckery and it was a situation where you can't be biased or let your idolatry for the boys to blind you coz its just bullshit and quite frankly don't like the fandom attitude toward it but I also never endorse cancel culture (would've canceled H's ass in 2014 ) coz I believe people can just learn and check their privilege but yeah I totally agree and hear you and deep down that's a moment and the whole vid I don't want it to be relived or repeated bc its just yikes the joke stand but no thanks

Even during Weedgate, a lot of 1d fans thought it was cool. Zouispassmeablunt trended for hours and fans said Zouis looked 'hot' smoking lol.
