I posted all of my pumping/nursing supplies on Buy Nothing. The baby only nurses once in the morning, sometimes at night. So far, it’s been an easy weening process.
My mother was so obsessed with saying how much she loved nursing me and how she’s glad I did it (the only parenting compliment I get from her), but I’m honestly just... “ok sure?” about the whole experience.
Like, I think it made some things easier (soothing her) and some things harder (I’m the only one that can do it, pumping is time consuming and not cheap).
Of course it’s something I wanted to do, but mostly for health reasons (for her), especially during COVID when she can be somewhat protected by my antibodies (and which is why I was waiting for this trip to be over to fully ween her).

How is it possible to be this grateful and still feel so sad?
Its a feeding frenzy!
My beautiful boy is now 6 months old (where has the time gone? he was only born last week surely!)
6 months brings new adventures, and by that I mean Malakai learning how to style his hair with avocado and see how much porridge he can get behind his ears before he gets attacked with a wet wipe.
In reality tho starting solids has already had its hurdles, Malakai seems to be allergic to something although we are still unsure of exactly what it could be, he was having porridge with whole milk and a wee bit of breast milk and was loving it so we never thought he may have any kind of milk allergy however last week we made mashed potatoes with some cream cheese through it and all hell broke loose! Malakai was feeding himself and enjoying every spoon full but after a few spoons he started itching his face really hard and we noticed his chin getting red we stopped dinner and quickly put Malakai in a bath to try and sooth his now rash covered skin. we phoned NHS 24 to be told that he may have a small allergy and to visit the out of hours doctors for some antihistamine, as soon as we hung up however Malakai got worse, he started projectile vomiting for 10 minutes straight all over me, Mark the car and the hospital floor. we then had to wait for over an hour to be seen by which point Malakai was now back to his normal self and as happy as ever (if not a wee bit over tired as it was now way past his bed time) the doctor couldn’t see anything wrong with Malakai as the rash had disappeared by this point and explained that he may have a milk allergy although even the chances of that were small due to him being breast fed, she suggested that we try and cut out dairy for two weeks and see if that could be the issue but after having Weetabix with lacto free milk it all happened again yesterday!
long story short has anyone else had any similar issues? we would love your help before Malakai's pediatrician appointment!
